Default Just bought '13 ES350 and have questions

Looked around, either didn't search right or it wasn't asked before. Questions:
1) when I have "Trunk Opener Cancel" enabled (button under steering wheel does not open trunk), is it possible to allow the remote to still open the trunk? Mine doesn't. I never use valet service but I do need to leave valuables in the trunk from time to time and preventing access to trunk even if someone breaks into the car would be nice.
2) my gear stick seems to have a "break" towards the driver, it looks like it's factory bent towards the driver's side, is it supposed to be like that?

Thanks fellow Lexusonians!

I have a '13 too. (1) no, The manual states that when the "Luggage Security System" button is pushed, neither the dash button nor the remote will open the trunk. I've not seen anything to change this behavior, even in the Carista options. (2) yes, my gear stick has the same break towards the driver.

1) I guess the only way is to disconnect the button under the steering wheel somehow...
2) got it

Thank you!

I've never used this feature, so I just went out and tried it. It even disables the physical button under the trunk lid from operating. It would be nice if it could configured the way you want. I would think disconnecting the switch should be fairly easy, though.

I also checked personalized settings and it's not there. I do get the use case for valet parking but not everyone owning a Lexus uses valet parking

For disconnecting the button, I wonder what unexpected surprises it can cause? One I can think of is locking your keys in the trunk while your doors are open, need to reconnect the button then I guess.

Where is the luggage security system button located?

It says "Trunk Opener Cancel" on my button. But it's inside the gloves box and right under the button that open the gloves box.

Love these threads. Just learned about two buttons I never knew I had. I guess with a 600 page manual and couple of hundred pages for Enform, there may be a couple of other things I missed too...

Yes, I have the same label on the button on my '13, but in the Manual and it's Index its called the "Luggage Security System" which is why I used that term, so the OP could find it in his manual.

Agreed. I have had my '13 for about a year (migrated from an '03 ES300) and still finding things. Last one that caught me was that I didn't realize I had the "tilt-down side mirrors when reversing" until I read the manual again. I usually kept the mirror switch (for moving the side mirrors) centered, and that's the "turn off" position for the feature. DUH here too.

I wonder if that's how it's called in the personalized settings manual. I will go back and check...

Ok, well that would be #3 for this thread. I keep mine centered too so I guess I'll test this at lunch ! Thanks!

And don't forget about the keyhole under the trunk lid - hidden next to the lever that opens with the smartkey...

I had that turn down side on reverse thing working til I took it in for an oil change and they reset some stuff. I'll have to figure out
how to get them working again. I liked that.

2016 ES350 Caviar black 'almost' fully loaded.
