May need to replace windshield 2016 ES350
Hi everyone,
I was on the way back from work when a rock hint my windshield. How much is it to replace the windshield on the 2016 ES350? It's about 0.4 inches across and it just happened this evening. Thank you

I would repair the crack first. Should be free as most ins will cover up to 5 or 6 hits a year. I have heard quotes of $1000 to $1800 for a new windshield depending on how your car is equipped.

However, DO NOT WAIT! Timing and temperature can quickly turn that nick into a run, Call a mobile glass repair today if you can't take it in yourself. Insurance usually covers it and if they don't, then pay for it yourself, as a good repair person can almost make it invisible. The rule of thumb is, "if you can cover the crack with a dollar bill, it is repairable".

Good luck - hope you can get it repaired easily.

I've tried the repairs, IMHO they look like hell. I would have it replaced. Push for an OEM Lexus branded replacement, you will have to fight your insurance company for one but stick to it and you'll win. Cost for the ES is about $1,300.
I had one on my 2010 ES that was small, banged on it with my fist to get it to spread so they wouldn't insist on trying a repair lol.

If I did need a windshield replacement on the ES now, I'd push the insurance company to agree to pay for a genuine Lexus windshield, which, depending on how much electronics you have in your ES, is likely to be quite expensive, but I've read too many posts from people who have had 3rd party windshields installed and who subsequently had issues with things like the automatic wipers not working, the heated wipers not working, etc.

Yeah, not great. I had one repaired on the Sedona about 6 months ago, it looks terrible, even wavy around it. I don't really care about that car, but on the Lexus I would demand a replacement, even if I had to crack it more.

My experience has been that, if you tell the insurance company that the damage to the windshield is in your direct line of sight, even if the damage is just a chip in the windshield, the insurance company will agree to pay for a replacement windshield without any further argument, and, if I had an insurance company not agree to replace the windshield, I'd be looking to give my insurance business to another company.

Actually a good repair company can make a repair virtually invisible if the crack is clean. My brother did windshield repairs for 20+ years and you could rarely tell where the repair was. But he took his time and did it right. He was able the fix cracks up to 1ft long.
I try to keep scotch tape with me to cover any crack or chip as soon as it happen. This helps for a better repair.

I got the windshield fixed. This is the time that I've every had to repair a wineshield. It doesn't look bad in the evening when the sun has already started to go down. But it looks way better now. Thank you everyone for your help. My AAA insurance doesn't cover windshield repairs.
