Micro USB cables added to front seat/dash area on '16 ES
2 weeks ago we picked up our '16 ES350.
Shortly after, we made a 900mi drive. On of the issues I have on a long drive is I hate having cables dragged over the console. The '16 has no accessory nor USB outlet at the Dash so we had to deal with cables from the glove box to the dash.
I just remedied this by running 2 (one for driver second for passenger) Micro USB cables from the glove box to the dash. This proved to be easier than I thought.
1- The console panels pop straight up so removal was easy.
2- I did not remove the shift *** but it does have to be moved to neutral. This can be done by either using the manual release located next to the shift lever or shutting the car down in neutral
3- I drilled a 3/8' hole in the front of the glove box between the USB and accessory power sockets. This allowed the cable end to pass through.
4- I ran 1 out the side trim to the passenger side. I secured it with a velcro tie and a piece of adhesive on the trim piece
5- The other cable I ran all the was to the front and it exits at the center between the console and the dash. I secured the same way as the other side.
Now the cords can be plugged into a 2amp 12vdc accessory plug or the USB. I do not know the output of the Lexus USB connector, and I keep a USB stick plugged in anyway
