Black dashboard has a faded spot
Hi guys, I have a problem with my dash on a 13 ES. There was a shiny spot in the middle of the dash, so I took some Dawn dish washing liquid and a microwfiber towel and gently tried to remove the shiny spot. Well, after I wiped it with clean water, it dried as a whitish spot now, as if some of the dye came off! Can anyone suggest a remedy for this mistake I did?
Thanks.
Thanks.

When my car was delivered, the delivery guy tossed the owners manual on the dash. It made a white spot. It seems the dash material is very susceptible to abrasion. The micro-scale scratches make the whitish appearance. Almost any touch will make white scratches.
Someone on this board suggested a product called 303 Aerospace Protectant. See, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-...g-on-dash.html . The stuff works...
In addition to making the whitish micro-abrasions black again, it also protects against UV, and does not make it shiny.

Would a product like "Back to Black" work? It seems the whole dash is kind of faded though out.

try aerospace 303 first..it is what i use with great results. it will darken/deepen the original color and produce a slight sheen, but nothing like armorall. great product....

I bought the 303 product about a month ago. Used it on the dash and seat with great results. I does produce a film on the inside of the windshield for a few days. It has lasted well and much better than the oily Armour All products I was using.

Has anyone heard of Black Wow Trim Restore, and if so, is it any good?

You know, I think the more you fool around with the surface of the dash, the more can of worms you'll open. I also have a '13 and have applied nothing but a damp, soft cotton towel on the top of the dash to eliminate dust. I haven't had any issues with spots, gloss, wear, or anything else. I believe once you start applying any chemicals there, you're tied into using them all the time to maintain the appearance.

The reason why I ask about other products is I'm not sure if the products mentioned here are going to cover up the faded spots. What I mean by faded is that the black is lighter than the rest of the dash. So, I'm thinking maybe I need a product with some kind of black tint to it. More like a restorer than a clear protectant.

Is there some particular reason you don't want to try the 303? LOL

There is no reason. I just want to make sure I don't get a shinny dash, thats all.
I am thinking of trying 303.

303 does have SOME sheen, but it's very subtle. In order to even out the appearance of the dash you need something with some sheen though.
