Default 2013 ES350 driver seat upper portion Parchment Perforated NuLuxe leather cut repair

Hi,

I've accidentally cut the driver seat in the upper portion of the seat on 2013 ES350 driver seat upper portion.

The leather is Parchment Perforated NuLuxe.

I was wondering if anyone knows the upholstery supplier where to get the perforated leather to replace the complete section of the upper seat to match the rest of the seat.

I have the local shop that can do the work but the problem is finding the matching leather piece source. They can use the dye to match the color but they need a close color to start from and the matching perforation holes (size and shape).

The did have the perforated leather in stock but it had the square wholes whereas the original Lexus leather has the round perforated holes.

I did search the ebay didn't find the used seat yet. Any ideas where to get the piece large enough to replace the the complete lower section of the upper part of the seat?

Thank you!

Just a reminder for your search. The Nu Luxe is vinyl, not leather. Make sure you're not asking about leather. The colors are probably a little different.

I didn't think NuLuxe came perforated back in 2013.

I think I'm getting confused now,. I'm looking at the Monroney sticker and it says NuLuxe Seating & Piano Black trimmed interior. The exterior color of the car is Obsidian.
Does that mean that the car seats are not leather but the vinyl?

Thank you for help.

NuLuxe is vinyl. Do you have a base model ES?

The Monroney sticker from this car says NuLuxe. My car in addition to standard equipment has: 8 speaker Display Audio with Single CD player and 7 EGA screen, hd radio and back up camera.
HID headlamps
Power Rear Sunshade
Luxury Package
Intuitive Parking Assist
Rain Sensing Wipers
Wood & Leather Trimmed Shift **** and Heater Wood & Leather Trimmed steering wheel.
Trunk Mat,Cargo Net Whl Locks & Rear Bumper App.

Is this a base model?

Also what if I replace the complete section of the upper portion of the seat with the real perforated leather that is correctly dyed to match the color would it still be visible from the rest of the NuLuxe seat?

This car is a lease and I have about 18 months left on the lease. I'm concerned with the repair to pass the Lexus turn in inspection at the end of the lease.

You stated Luxury Package, so you have perforated leather seats, not NuLuxe.

I think you are correct the Luxury Package from the Monroney sticker includes:
Perforated leather-trimmed interior
Heated & ventilated front seats
Dark maple wood interior trim
Power tilt steering wheel
Lexus Memory Sys for driver seat, outside mirrors, steering wheel,
Remoted Keyless entry linked memory

I've just got confused by the entry in the base package in the Monroney sticked that talks about NuLuxe seating in the base model.

The luxury packages comes on top of it. Thank you for help with clarifying it.

My original question still stands: Does anyone knows the upholstery distributor where I can get the piece of perforated Parchment leather large enough to replace one complete section of the upper half of the driver seat.

Also does anyone know if the Parchment color from the 2009 model would be close enough to 2013 model as I saw the used upper portion of the rear seat on ebay for the 2009 model. It should be large enough to cut the piece for the front seat.

Thanks!

I had my 350 in for an oil change and someone, who remains anonymous, accidentally cut the seatback of my leather Parchment driver's seat. I was afraid that the dealer would want to repair the seat and it would look like a back alley repair job. Instead, they said that the entire seatback must be replaced for it to look appropriate.
Lexus replaced the entire seatback and it turned out perfect. The replacement would have cost over $1000.
According to the SM the part was a Lexus part and had to be ordered - not done locally. My opinion is that trying to get an exact color match by dyeing a piece of leather is very difficult. Same for trying to patch the cut rather than replace the whole part. I wish you good luck in the process.

To the OP, it might be a wash whether you pay to repair or take a hit on the damage at turn in. Just a thought.

Bob, good thing the SM replaced the entire seatback. Next time just remember to take that screw driver out of your back pocket after working on your Vette.

Default upholstery shop

I have contacted two Lexus dealers in my area. First that sold me the car and the second one that is in the area. The second one flat our refused me to give me contact details for the upholstery shop that they use. They said to bring the car in for the inspection and they will call in the upholstery guy to give me the quote. They refused to take the picture of the damage over the email.
The first dealer was more friendly and promised to have the upholstery shop call me to give me the estimate. They were very surprised to learn that I want the whole section of the leather to be replaced.
They said that it is usually gets patched in place. I don't want to go the route of repairing in place because the cut is about 1 inch long and is triangular. It has 2 sides one inch each.
I know that highly skilled upholstery specialist can fix it in place and math the color.
However the question is how long will it last and remain invisible. I have about 17 months left on the lease and I don't think it will last that long.

My local upholstery guy who does work for upscale dealerships ( not Lexus ) says that he can only give 60 days warranty on the perfect color match.

At the same time he will give 18 months warranty (color match and structural) if we replace the whole one section of the upper seat. The only problem he does not have access to the perforated leather that has the same profile of the holes. He is still looking through suppliers.

I don't want to wait for repair for 17 months because the damage will get bigger penetrating more layers in the seat. At the end of the lease I will be at mercy of Lexus inspector who may charge me for the whole upper seat replacement. According to the info in this thread it is about $1000.

Default update on the repair

The upholstery shop that services the dealer that I've leased the car from has called me today.
They took a look at the pictures of the cut and said that they can't repair it so that it will not be visible even on the day 1 after the repair because they need to put the backing that is larger than the cut and it will cover even more than the already existing damaged holes.
As far as getting the information on where to get the matching aftermarket piece of leather to replace the whole section they have no idea either.

At least my local upholstery shop can make an invisible repair by putting the backer and then remaking the holes and matching the color. They are giving the short term warranty on the color match. That is the option that will be available to me closer to the lease end.

In the mean time I should keep looking for the upholstery dealer that may have access to the matching aftermarket leather. Does anyone have a recommendation of the large upholstery dealer or the repair shop that may have access to that?

Also I should keep watching ebay in hope that the used complete portion of the Lexus seat shows up between now and my lease end.

The last resort option is to have Lexus replace complete upper seat portion.
