If a youthful image is that important to you, then the ES is the wrong car. Get the IS and call it a day.

If you want a bigger, more comfortable car with a luxury, upscale ride then get the ES. It's just a car.

I'm not one to think a car is designed and marketed towards a particular person. Get the car the appeals to you and you'll be happy in the end. To hell with what people think. It's your life and live it the way you want to live it.

Suggest you visit a Hyundai forum. Get a feel for the brand and problems owners are having (just like you have done here). If it's not a problem for you buy one, it's also your money.

I'm also in my mid 30's and the perception that the ES was an old man's car didn't even enter the equation. It looks great, it suits my needs and the price was right, done deal. And the increased sexy factor was intended to draw in guys my age.

I bought my ES300H a few months ago at age 30. I got it because I liked it as it is a roomy, good looking car with lots of nice tech features. Unfortunately, that car was totaled (have an RDX now) but still, not all ES drivers are age 60 or older.

I'm 65 but when I drive my ES350 I look like a buffed 40 year old.

I bought my ES300h when I was 45. I also have a 2011 Harley Davidson Fatboy Lo and 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I must be the only person in town with a Harley Davidson license plate frame on a hybrid. Love it.

Hi, I'm 36 and I just purchased a used 2013 ES350 a week ago – Nebula exterior with Parchment interior. My last car was total in a recent accident. Therefore, I needed a car asap and didn’t really have time to shop. This car was the first and only car we actually looked at and only took it for a quick drive. We brought it but we’re not even sure if we got a good deal on it. It had 20k miles and was only a base model with the premium package (heated seats, parking assistant, 3M clear protectors, tint, but would like the Blind Spot Monitoring and I like the old touch screen NAV more). We got it for $30,700.00.

Anyhoo, here were my choices:

• Nissan Altima – I like the new look of this car but wife didn't like it. We also didn't know how reliable Nissan vehicles are….never had one nor did we know anyone that had the newer models.
• Toyota Tundra – I like this one a lot but the interior of a truck is horrific (I know, it’s truck) and couldn’t justify the 13 mpg city as we have a GX470 that does 14 mpg city (can’t have two gas- guzzlers). I have a daily commute of combined 40+ miles to/from work.
• Lexus GS350 – I really, really wanted this car but it was more than I wanted to spend (around $42,000+ used) but it’s so fun to drive (had it one day for a loaner) that I might be seeing too many “laws” if I was to own this car.
• Lexus IS250 – sporty and like the new 2014 look but too small as we needed space in the back for a full size booster seat.

I never actually liked the ES model until the new, revamped 2013 models came out. All the older models just looked like the Toyota Camry and I was never interested. The new 2013+ version is spacious, ride smooth, and has a very slick/modern interior. I think the new look appeals to the younger audiences while it still has the luxury, sophisticated style, and superb ride. At my age, I couldn't see myself in a the LS models.

As I stated earlier, my ES350 is a base model but I’m planning to do the following upgrades to make it my own:
• HID Low Beam – Completed (Xenon Depot Xtreme kit – H11 5000k)
• LED Fog Lights – Waiting for my reward points from Xenon Depot to place an order – H11 Cree 30w 5000k (or I might order the 2014 ES350 LEDs/Housing from Sewell)
• LED Interior/Plate Lights – Partially completed using leftover LEDs from the GX but the rest of the LEDs are on their way
• Spoiler – Probably will be ordering the painted tail and template from Sewell as Club Lexus members receive a pretty good discount on parts and accessories
• Front Lip – I think this upgrade makes the ES350 more aggressive and I like how the kit continues the chrome spindle outline. I thought about the entire body kit but it's an overkill - just too much.

I hope you’ll find a car that you like and one that will match your style/taste.
