Thank you AircraftX. I was looking for that old thread on this same question. It works for me.

I finally figured how to turn the a/c on and off without going through the menus. This method basically puts the a/c system in a semi manual mode although the temperature control still works but it does not adjust the fan speed. So if the temperature setting is reached, the temperature of the air coming out of the vents is adjusted but the speed the air is coming through the vents is not.

Push one of the fan speed buttons to take the a/c system out of the automatic mode. Then push the fresh/recirculating button so the recirculating and Auto lights are on (the left and center lights). The a/c will now be on. You can adjust the temperature and fan settings as necessary. To turn the a/c off, simply press the fresh/recirculating button so that only the fresh air light is on and the a/c compressor will be off or you can press the off button.

Very cool! Can't wait to try this.

Adding to my above post, the a/c system has to be 'setup' prior to first use of this method.

The a/c option (compressor) needs to be deselected/off and the a/c system needs to be off or can be on as long as the compressor is off.

Also, the 'Auto' light on the button is the on/off for the a/c, not the 'air' mode.
