Count me in on this. I stopped DIY oil/filter changes over 10 years ago given the mess to change and dump the oil. In my younger days when I was more cashed strapped, I did most if not all of my maintenance. When I bought my first Lexus, I let either the dealer or the indie shop take care of the maintenance. My days of grease under the nails are far and few between. .

Point being, it's not necessary to spend $100+ on an oil change.
Yeah, the oil gurus are big on the moly stuff - I guess the TGMO has a good dose of it.

You are correct - no need to spend big bucks on an oil change if you don't have to but some people aren't that concerned, I guess.

Well if LESZ is correct about Toyota doing the oil change for $53.00 I'm on your train too Art.

At that price, make it a double . Then again, I'm not sure if the Toyota dealer in the bay area will be as cheap, due to the high cost of labor and living.

If anyone is considering an oil change at a dealership you can save a few bucks by looking at web sites. Most of the dealerships around here offer coupons or % off various services etc. usually it's not a big amount, but every few bucks helps. Every now and then some of them will offer a hot price on oil changes to get people to come in. My last oil change and rotation on a 2010 ES350 was $59.95.

Was this a Lexus or Toyota dealer? Now throw into tire rotation, that's a deal!

Yes, it was a Lexus dealer. I couldn't believe the price and had the services done a little before the car was due. IIRC the offer came in the mail. It was dino oil but the car was a 2010 ES350 in which I was using dino at the time.

Upload your invoice so we can price match at our dealers...

I don't think I can. This was nearly two years ago on the 2010. I don't have the car-Traded it in one year ago this month. It's probably too long ago to do much good. My main point was to look for dealer specials on service.

I see more dealer specials from Toyota, not much from Lexus. So Toyota will perform service (non-warranty) that will be honored by Lexus if there's a problem down the road?

There's a law that was enacted that allows owners to get their vehicles serviced outside of the dealer without voiding the warranty, you didn't know that?

I think that regarding oil changes, if one has written proof that the work was done in a timely manner, for example an invoice or service order, that this would be legally acceptable if a warranty issue arose that was directly related to maintenance. Meaning if the work was performed by other than a Toyota or Lexus dealer.

Nope. Always thought if you brought your Audi A8 W12 to Toyota for general service, you might have some warranty issues down the road.
