Default Audio Level When Navigation Talking

My audio volume does not decrease when the navigation talks. Rather, I have to keep the navigation voice level high and it simply talks over the music/audio. Is this supposed to happen or do I have something set wrong? I can't believe the audio doesn't lower automatically the same way it does for a phone call.

Thanks.

I had a '07 and '10 ES350 and both of them lowered/muted the volume for phone calls but not for nav announcements. I thought that might have changed with the new gen.

The car I have now mutes the sound system for both which I like.

You hit it head on, I brought this up on another thread.
I have a 2013 ES350 Ultra Luxury and I previously owned a 2007 also Ultra Luxury.
I agree with you because I know for a fact that my 2007 Ultra Luxury with Mark Levinson would lower the volume for Navigation voice and would mute audio and even pause the music playing from the 6 disc changer.
I really don’t understand how that was in the previous system but is MIA in this one??????

So your current Lexus mutes both? Which model?

Correct, I wasn't very clear. The Audi mutes for both phone calls and nav announcements.

My Audi will mute for phone calls if I transfer the bluetooth back over to handset mode, but both my Audi's decrease the audio volume when navigation directions are being spoken.
