ES350 or ES300h

Based on driving an ES350 loaner for a day recently while my LS was in for service, our recent thorough test drive of a Toyota Avalon Hybrid which has the same drive train as the ES300h, and our one year of owning a Toyota Prius v hybrid wagon, I would definitely prefer the ES300h.
I have become fascinated with Toyota hybrid technology for many reasons: the complete silence when driving at low speeds, the electric air conditioning compressor that allows staying cool while stopped with the gasoline engine off, the zippy acceleration from the combined torque of the electric and gasoline motors when moving off from a stop and of course the far better fuel economy.
As much as we like the ES300h/Avalon Hybrid, our plan is to buy a highly equipped 2014 Toyota Highlander Hybrid with Pre-Collision System (PCS) and Adaptive Radar cruise control a few months after they become available in early 2014. I assume that your "NSW" location means New South Wales so you may know the Highlander as the Australian market "Kluger". Here in the U.S., the Highlander has been offered with a hybrid drivetrain for several years. After owning mostly sedans for about 50 years, we have decided that all our remaining vehicles will be wagon-like. The 2014 Highlander/Kluger is larger, more van/wagon-like and less SUV-like than the 2013 and earlier Highlander/Kluger.
