Default Re-arrange the Gas and Trunk Button

Well having a bunch of blanks in my dashboard didn't really bother me, until I read about them in this forum. And when I got a soar back, I hated reaching down below and look for the button. So, I moved the two switches up on top. The only problem was the trunk switch, the switch is keyed differently than others. So, I shaved the taps on both sides, and it fit perfectly. The wires are long enough, just remove some tape. All in all, it too about half an hour. Also found a wire harness that goes to a blank, any idea whats it for? Now on the next project, a touch free sensor for the trunk and sunglass holder.

Great idea - Thanks. I will make this change tomorrow morning. I've repositioned a lot of dashboard switches over the years and don't know why I never thought of this.

I'm already thinking about it - any trick to removing the coin holder to make this easier or did you just work around it? Thanks.

To remove the dashboard, you must pop out the the center piece below the temp controls. Then the skinny strips by the door jams. Then the plastic nut on the floor and the plastic it holds. Pop out the plastic by air vent. Remove two 10mm screws and it all comes out. lessons learned.

The coin holder comes out with the plastic. the air bag stays attached to the car.

I had the mini-mod done before 7:00 this morning and have already used both buttons. I might have made the job much more difficult (if not impossible) by trying to do it without removing the dash panel without your pictures and instructions.

Nice job. Thanks for sharing your pics. It'll make the job easier if I decide to do it.

I think it is all about uniformity of the wire harnesses. In the loaded UL version only 2 slots are open and in other countries the blanks are used for headlight washers and I believe an override for some back armrest controls.

One of them is also used for the power folding mirrors we don't have the luxury of getting here.

While I think this is a great idea, there could be warranty issues...

The owner's manual shows the switch position occupied by the extra wire to be the Automated High Beam Switch. The position without a connector or a switch is shown as the Windshidl Wipter De-icer.

I thought about making the change but I have enough trouble remembering which switches are on the top row, and bottom row, let alone on the same row.
