Just picked up a black on black ES350!

I am coming from an Acura where I changed the tranny fluid every 30k miles. Acura/Honda during my model year had failures and ever since then, I have been very worried about automatic transmissions in all of my cars.

Is the tranny in the Lexus ES 350 sealed? Do they ever change the fluid on it? And if so, has this design proven itself? It is very foreign to me to never change the transmission fluid on a car. I plan to keep this one for a while!

I know accords with the v6 had trans problems. rare to see one with over 150k on the clock.

does acura shares the same trans?

sorry don't know of any lexus trans problems... which is probably a good thing

The engine in the es350 has been used since 2006 in the Es350, Toyota Avalon, Toyota Camry, RAV4, etc

They've made minor tweaks, but the v6 has remained largely unchanged.

The question was regarding the trans.

I have no idea how long it will last, but since I wasted money on a 100k warranty, I really don't care.

Nope I have not heard of problems, the car transmission is sealed doesn't mean it can't be done you would have to get your dealership to do it as they use a special tool.

The available info (CR and JDP) suggests long term the trans is reliable.

Transmission is one of the primary reasons I came over/back to Lexus. I owned an Audi with a CVT Trans. I hated it after a month of owning and even more when I found out how expensive they are to maintain. I expect great things from our ES350. Its a great car, and power train is the best part.

I drove an Acura TL 3.2 for several years, and experienced several transmission replacements as well. The infamous glass tranny from Honda is inescapable for anyone commuting long distances in these cars. I wouldn't purchase another larger Honda or Acura product, anything larger than a 4 cylinder engine. My previous 4 cylinder - Honda Accord lasted over 250,000 miles original engine and transmission before I donated it, (still running). I have multiple friends and family members with 6 Cylinder Accords, TLs, CLs, MDXs and Odysseys who have had transmission issues in the past decade. This is the reason why I purchased in the past 8 years - 2 Toyota Camrys and just recently a 2013 ES350 Lexus to avoid these type of issues. I believe Toyota and Lexus has a winning recipe, I'm a big commuter about 30K - 50K annually. These cars have saved me a ton of money in reliability, time, and peace of mind. I have never been stuck on the side of the road with my Camry or Lexus, combined over 400K miles traveled.

I have been stuck in rush hour travel and on the side of a LA freeway over 3 times with my Acura.
