Default New ES owner and Q about changing vehicle Bluetooth ID

Hi guys

I'm a new 2013 ES 350 owner (matador red!) as of yesterday. Previously, I had an 02 Acura TL-S but had to let that baby go because of creeping maintenance costs.

I've got to admit that, in 11 years, car tech has gotten a lot better - and I love it. However, one thing that I don't know how to do is change the vehicle's Bluetooth ID. Right now, it's "CAR MULTIMEDIA" but I figure I'm going to run into trouble if I pull up beside any other 2013 Lexus owner who hasn't changed their ID.

I tried reading through the owner's manual and tried searching online, but no luck.

So, has anyone been able to figure out how to do it and could let me know how?

Thanks in advance.

Hopefully your phone technology has changed too.

On my Galaxy S4 I can change the name of my connections.

As far as another Lexus at a stop light, unless you scan and pair your phone with that car you won't have an issue.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, my phone tech is a little more up-to-date.

I had renamed the pairing in my phone (BB 9900 and GS3) but thought I could do it with the car itself. I guess it's not an option.

Default Change Bluetooth ID

You can change the name of the connection inside the bluetooth settings.

I have hte NAV system. You go to Bluetooth, then detailed Bluetooth settings. You can click on the name and type in whatever you want. Mine is "Bigdaddys Lexus". You can also set a passcode if needed.

As for problems with another car:
Each bluetooth transmitter has a unique ID/MAC address. Devices paired with one "Car Multimedia Device" won't just jump over to another cad with "Car Multimedia Device" .

Without chanign the passcode though someone could pair with your car. But the first phone synced will take precedence. (A trick I pull on my wife a lot)

Thanks. I remember going into detailed Bluetooth settings but couldn't seem to click on the name. I do remember changing the passcode. I'll try it again.

I don't have NAV but have the 7" display. Not sure that would make a difference...
