I'm wonder if we've entered the world of fantasy fiction.

Coming up next: Those flame decals on vintage Firebirds actually do help them go faster.

Ok - I get it now - you stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night, didn't you?

In my unrelenting search for better gas mileage on my ES350, I've noticed that the 300h has something going with its exhaust pipes. They're hidden under an extended rear valance! What's going on there? The 350 exhaust pipes exit very prominently through the rear valance. Perhaps there's some sort of exhaust gas recirculation going on with the 300h that's not permitted in the 350.

Did you modify yours to have it recirculate back into the cabin?

Now you guys are hurting my feelings! I was about to explain my newest theory that the 300h exhaust under the trunk is pushing UP on the trunk, counterbalancing the downward force of the air going over the rear spoiler. This explains why the 300h rear tire pressures do not go up (due to squeezing) while my 350 rear tire pressures do increase. But because of the ridicule, I'm not going to share this insight.

Are you related to the guy on bobistheoilguy.com who says he pours WD-40 into his oil sump when draining his oil? His theory is that because the WD-40 is primarily made of fish oil, it cleans out the remaining oil in the sump, thus resulting in a more efficient oil change. I couldn't help but notice the striking similarity to your theories.

Great point Arty! I am learning so much on this forum - I await Pintado's next invaluable piece of data that will take ES mankind to the next level.

Thanks for the encouragement (?), but it's time to fess up. When I started this thread, I thought I'd get some questions like:

How difficult it is to DIY install the spoiler? (ANS: Easy, once you get past the idea of drilling holes in your new car!)

Or, do you need special Tools? (ANS: No, but the instructions call for 3mm and 9mm drill bits. I used 1/8" and 5/16" bits. You also need an 8mm socket, and a socket drive extension.)

Do you need the installation instructions? (ANS: It could be done without the Lexus instructions, but it's a lot easier with them. You can get a copy from your Lexus dealer, or download them from the Sewell Lexus site. The spoiler does NOT come with the instructions.)

Do you need the mylar installation template? (ANS: Again, it could probably be done without the template, but why take the chance? That's how you locate the four holes you're going to drill into your trunk lid! If you choose to do it without the template, I have some rather lengthy advice on how to do it. If you want the template at some saving, I'll mail you mine (in a custom mailing tube) for $20. I also have some advice on using the template, since the instructions are kind of cryptic!).

And the final question, why did I really install the spoiler? (ANS: Because it looks neat!).
