That's total BS. I've not seen a single complaint, outside of these forums. At least from a reputable non-biased critic.

Only 4 items for me......

#1...Air cond. front seats, NOT ventilated like we now have.
#2...Standard Self diming high beams.
#3...Power folding outside mirrors.
#4...Wood on the console NOT black plastic like we now have.

Totally agree, except I'd add in #5...Better Nav/Voice Command system. Otherwise, the car is perfect.

Mike, that's just his opinion, not fact. He's made other similar remarks which makes me think he's just a troll.

Not going to happen, but I'd really prefer an interior that doesn't look like it's from 1988.

Were you driving in 1988? Show me any car from that era that looks remotely close.

In 1988, I used a mouse and an analog clock. In 2014, I'd prefer a touch screen and a digital clock.

ES300h is a great car, but I wanted to wait until its 2nd model year. However, the interior feels a little low tech compared to what else is out there.

All in all it sounds like the 300h might not be the car for you even if you wait a model year.

You had a mouse in your vehicle? The joystick controller found in most Lexus' allows the nav to sit higher on the dash and it's much easier to view up there. It would be extremely difficult to use in that location if it had a touch panel. The analog clock is present in most higher end vehicles, so your example is moot.

While I certainly would like nearly every feature in the poll, the GPS is what will dictate for me if I buy a 2014 ES or not.

No it's not. Look at the Infiniti Q50 interior - can sync my Gcal to the car's touch screen.

Nothing against the ES in general, and overall I really like the car. But I don't see why Lexus went for such a lawyerly look inside.

"the GPS is what will dictate for me if I buy"

"I'd prefer a touch screen and a digital clock"

The GPS system is not going to change. Either is the clock. If you take a look at the entire Lexus line, the basic design inside and out is similar from car line to car line. Lexus is obviously happy with the design and so are the vast majority of Lexus customers. They are also totally committed to it [in all their vehicles] and could not change it at this point even if they wanted to.

In any case, in general, major changes cannot/are usually done because of the tooling/manufacturing process involved. Each vehicle's design is a multi-year commitment except for perhaps minor cosmetic changes several years into the production cycle.

The only mouse that would have been in a 1988 vehicle would have been a four legged one!

He's way ahead of his time. Doc Brown with his time machine, 4 footed furry mouse and the digital readout (clock). .

So that's it. They' keep the same outdated GPS for the next 50 years? Only about half the enthusiasts who took the poll on this site weren't obviously happy with the GPS. Who is preventing them from changing it at this point if they wanted to do so? Where is your survey info that corroborates your supposition? I can change out my optical drive or my hard drive on my computer without redesigning the case that it is in. Do you really think they can't upgrade the firmware or processor on the GPS without replacing the whole vehicle?
