Default looking for a spare key fob

hope this is the proper place to post this topic. Just bought a 2017 ES350 and the former lessee only turned in one of the key fobs so i need to purchase a 2nd one for reserve and emergency reasons. I inquired with the dealers here in SOCAL and they want $300 for the fob and wanted $190 for the programming and for cutting the key. I live in Orange County California. I understand i can go to a locksmith to do the work but is there a reliable site on ebay for instance that sell one that works? First time i am using the site so please forgive me if this type of question has been asked before. Thanks for your time.

So they want $490.00 for a smartkey? Geez, no wonder they're called stealerships... I've not had the need to look for an additional key but I'm hoping one of the other members of the forum can help you out. The subject has come up previously so maybe do a search and you can find some info. GOOD LUCK!

Used keyfobs on ebay: $85 (I just got one recently)

Metal insert cut from a picture of your existing key: $15 on ebay. Don't waste time looking for a locksmith - almost none of them would be able to do it (trust me - I have been there).

Programming takes ~5 minutes with Techstream software. You can do it yourself (just need a $20 cable and be computer savvy) or you can find independent Toyota/Lexus mechanic that should charge ~1/2-1 hour labor for it.

any locksmith that is a real auto locksmith can usually do this they will charge between 250-350 for a key and programing.
i buy keys on ebay when I need them for like 70-100 buck then 50 to have them programmed if you need a emergency access key blade cut also then your profile another 40

1010keys from fleabay. Got me situated fairly quick and reasonable, all through online transactions. You have to email proof of ownership and driver's license. Legit!

Good luck. Do it before you get in a bind without a spare.

Are you saying someone was able to make you a spare key without touching your 6th Gen ES ?

Glad to report that I found a site on Ebay that sells the "OEM Virgin" uncut key and remanufactured Fob for 89 + tax. Item arrived today and found a local mobile locksmith who charged a very reasonable fee $85 to program and cut the keys. Couldn't be any happier as the FOB works. My main concern is if I received a bad fob. While I can return it, the locksmith would still charge me his fee nonetheless. If you need the ebay site let me know - he had 30,000+ ebay reviews.

The Locksmith is bonded and you can be assured the only key they will make is for you. They will ask for the car proof of ownership and your driver's license. Any good locksmith within your area can do this for you. 101keys will do it via email and will send you the smart key fully functional., however there is a final procedure of getting the car to recognize the new key fob. Not hard to do but takes time (manual way) or else you can use Techstream for the ones savvy enough. I suggest go to your local locksmith. All in all cheaper option than going through the your local dealership.

Could you please describe the "manual way". Does it work on 6ES? This is the first time I hear about such option.
