I don't understand why someone would not buy something because the option they want is an option. Bear in mind they reduced the price of the ES with nuluxe, so an ES with leather is about as much as its always been.

Leather is so commonly available across such a wide variety of vehicles these days, IMO it's not all that exclusive and reserved just for luxury vehicles any longer.
If the simulated stuff feels good to me, I'd go with it.

Cloth is the most durable, by far. So you will enjoy owning the car longer. Just go to a self service wrecking yard and compare a 1990 Cressida, ES250 or LS400 with cloth seats vs real leather. The cloth seat versions of those cars will still look nice in a majority of cases. The leather seat versions will nearly all be cracked and torn to %#&*$. Real leather would be fine for owners who sell/trade every 5 years/100,000 miles, however.

Granted nobody is going to order this now days:
But I could see something a little more toned down like the back seat of this 1979 Seville might actually sell, just put kind of a modern twist on it.

I wish they still sold cars with actual plush, extremely high quality, wears like iron cloth seats. The cloth seats now days are made of some sort of nylon that feels more like a rain jacket than a nice sofa. I always loved all the options Lincoln and Cadillac gave you back in the day. Some of the cloth patterns were gaudy, but you had the choice of like 5 or 6 hues, 3 or 4 cloth patterns, and 5-7 different colors for leather seats if you wanted them.
Granted nobody is going to order this now days:

These pics take me back to the days of interiors like this, coach lights, landau roofs, whitewalls and big flashy wheel covers. Seriously though, thanks for the pictures it was good to see them.

The Lexus cloth until 2009 was, IMHO, a nice black velour.

in fact, at one time I had a buick with an interior close to that caddy's. a total land yacht. it pulled a boat nicely. LOL.

Mr. Bill, I think that Fleetwood Brougham would look nice in your ES. You certainly don't see that kind of material used today. A nice retro to your old Buick, no? LOL.

I had a Cadillac with a bordello interior, so much fun with that big bench seat at the drive-ins.
Only thing was the way those pillow cushions were designed, they squeaked like an SOB if you fidgeted in your seat. I ended up gluing some blue velvet to the back of the pillow portion(where you don't see it) and that helped a good bit.
