Door hinge bolts not painted?
Has anybody noticed that the door hinge bolts are not painted or covered? On my Honda these were painted and on my MB E500 these have a covered with plastic cap on it. The plain carbon steel bolts are just too exposed waiting to get rusted. This is the first time I say these bolts on any vehicle not being painted, I'm not sure on the older or other lexus models though if they were all the same.
Other car manufacturer typically paint this and disassemle the door by taking the pins out during assembly.

I don't think any Toyota has paint on these bolts, just a difference in manufacturing processes between companies. I'm not sure abut the bolt spec for coating material. I would assume, though, they are not uncoated steel (unless they are actually considered sacrificial to help keep the body clean? ... Unlikely).

I can confirm the bolts are covered on the GS...

Really??? Can you post a picture of us? Is it possible they forgot to install the bolt covers? I should probably give the service department a call.
Thanks for checking this for us.

Sure, I'll snap a picture of it tonight. I specifically noticed it because of this thread. I didn't think to look at the 2013 ES in the showroom...

I too wish I had looked at my recently traded 2010 to see if the bolts are capped or painted. I always wipe down the door jambs but never really noticed.
Update: We just bought a new Audi and the door hinge bolts etc. are painted (or covered) the same as the body color.

nuts/bolts on the door frame side is NOT painted. The nuts/bolts on the chassis side is painted.
I'm just somewhat dissappointed as to why it is not painted. On the Mercedes is has a cap or cover on it. On the Honda it is painted.
Also I just called the parts department and it doesn't show up on their parts list on the hinge section. May be I need to go there show it to them.
