Great write up! I got mine yesterday, cerulean blue/parchment interior; just LOVE it. I had a RX400H 2006, what a great car too. I have found that the answers on operations are easier to understand here than in the 5 pound owners manual so I am delighted to find this site. I am getting 38mpg in a semi-rural area (outside Annapolis). The only thing I really miss so far is the automatic hatch opener.

This car is smoother and quieter than my husband's Jaguar (he agrees) and also is quieter. I couldn't be happier. We actually went leaning toward the GS but preferred the ES once we got inside. We didn't even bother test driving the GS once we tried the ES.

So noob saying hi and signing off.

RX400h is a great car.........the technology it has is still a decade farther than many other manufacturers. But it did have a normal engine and not a dedicated hybrid only engine...(what they like to call the "atkinson cycle" engine). the atkinson part is not really true but it is efficient and will only really work with hybrids.

also, the hybrid technology is so much more refined these days. that combined with the so-called atkinson engine produce phenomenal mileage and performance.

I'm a big fan of the original Lexus hybrids....and the original GS450h is still the meanest true hybrid out there.......but the latest generation often incites words such as "damn, it really does get mileage that good"
