That pic is the Lexus concept "LF-Xh" -- it is the concept on which the current RX350 & 450h are based... it is NOT the next ES.

That would explain why the front looks so "high" - didn't look at all like a car to me from that angle, and now I know why - thanks!

LexBob,
I agree that Lexus will probably consider the demographics, nothing close to the LX-LF, it's a concept, but do I think they are going to take more 'chances' with the design but nothing too radical. IMO, the exterior more angular, the inside, very plush and techie. A Lexus sales assoicate told me it's going to look more like the redesigned LS, so I think it's going to be bigger. Maybe we'll be able to peek it before August....

First, the pictures on page one are an older ES, an IS 250 or 350, and the final two are of the new GS. As for the ES, you'll find out more in April.

At the Lexus dealer meeting in Las Vegas in early January attended by dealer principals and general managers the GM at my dealership said that they were shown pictures and film clips of the new ES.

He said that the car is going to branch off completely from any remote association or appearance with the Camry, he said that it was going to be bigger and much more plush, I asked him if it was going to be Avalon size but he thought that it would be a different platform, was not sure.

He was very excited talking about all the new product coming into the Lexus line within the next 18 months, GS, LX, ES, IS and LS, got to believe that with the introduction of the GS next month some of that thunder that has been lost from the product will be regained.

I think we'll all be shocked at the beauty of of the '13 ES as it is now designed by very young people at their design studio in California.

but if they make it "sporty" and abandon its current mission I will be very unhappy. I want isolated and quiet for a reason.

Sounds like ES training will be in May. Looks like we'll see the car sooner than thought.

A couple of spy shots. First one is a camouflaged 2013 on top of a 2012 to compare overall dimensions. Looks like about the same size with more overhang on the front. Second one is the interior, again with camo.

All Leather steering wheel? I would hate having to drive a camouflaged up car, that loose fabric would be a pain to deal with. Park Assist ( w/ 3 sensors )should be mandatory with that longer front end.

Yes, The "new" ES350 will still be be based on the Camry........it costs way too much to develop a completely new platform. It's worked well up to now (with excellent sale numbers) and Toyota is not going to fool with the success of this car, I don't think. If they are not careful and have gone too far with body design changes (like the grill and front end of the GS), it could cost them sales. I think they understand the target market for the ES350.

The black one looks like a Nissan Altima by the side view shape of it.

I hope the new ES has just a bit more pizzaz than the previous generation, not much, just a bit more. I've seen the new GS and I must say that the grille has grown on me.
