MPG discrepancy: Indicated vs Actual 2014ES300h

Bought this car from a dealer with 21,421 miles on Apr 30, 2015. Car now has 50,085. At first, the actual vs after refueling mpg seemed pretty close. The numbers started diverging as the years passed. I just now filled the tank, and now the the discrepancy is 42.0 indicated, and 35.98 actual.
Is this an indication of something going awry, or should I just ignore it?
Thanks.

Have you been doing a lot of short drives?

Yes. Dec 31, 2019 we bought a Subaru Outback and started driving it on trips to Florida to see the grandkids(about 275 miles away). From 2015 to 2019, driving the Lexus on the highway, I got as high as 42 mpg actual. Since the Subaru purchase, the Lexus was used exclusively locally. . Obviously not driving much, but one tankful a while back gave me a disappointing 32-33 mpg. and the difference between indicated and actual was around 2mpg. This time, it's 6.

Maybe it’s not a cause of concern, see what the next tank gives you. But 6mpg is a big difference.

I’m only driving my es300h down a few blocks to drop my son to school, and have been getting 30mpg. So your mpg is pretty good if you’re driving short distances only.
