Default Fry an egg on the dash.

Now that summer is back, even with a sunscreen, the black dash covering gets hot in very little time. So as we can't take our garage, carport or a shady tree with us, in cars past I bought a dash mat {fitted carpet}. The only problems with that were reflective glare from too light a color of the mat and possibly tacky. Or maybe even dated. I really am tempted to buy one again. I want it for the protection and heat reduction. Anyone crazy enough to get one for their Lexus? They're probably around $50, if they make them for our car? They are custom fitted. Carefully feel near your dash on a sunny day even with the AC on. It can get hot enough to burn.

I think a window Sun shade keeps it protected by at least keeping the direct sun vu rays off. That you mention this when I was at the Lexus Dealer, they mentioned that my GS was still under a Customer Support program that covered the dash melting. There have been incidents mostly like Fl where the dash was actually melting. The Lexus is not the only car manufacture either that had this problem.

I try to keep my car out of direct sunlight as much as possible. The other thing is the plastic headlights. The sun and vu rays is what turns them yellow and cloudy.

I live in the Dallas, TX area and certainly gets hot leaving my car in the sunshine for eight hours during workdays--red exterior, black pano roof, black interior. I use the typical silver windshield shades on the inside. Yes, it's hot, even at 100 degrees or so, but bearable, nonetheless. I've done this for the last seven summers and it works fine and the inside materials are all still OK, including the leather. However, I have a 2024 ES/UL and I asked the dealer back yonder and at least on the UL the windows are 98% UV blockers. I cannot speak for the base, premium, or luxury models. That might make a difference to folks who have a more hot interior.

My two cent info.

Absolutely. I have a similar window shade. I also put down a towel on the dash with it as well. I know the carpeted dash mats might look cheesy, but as long as aren't overly reflective when driving on sunny days, they do cut down on the heat and save your dash. They're only about $40, so I'll order one. It'll match the seat cover protectors, beige, I also bought. Beige by itself is bland, but matched with black seems to work and available colors do not come any lighter for this car. Now where do you get those hanging fuzzy dice for the rear view mirror? But not beige!

Dash pads are sort of tacky in my opinion.

They've really made a to of improvement on dashes holding up. Sunshade on the windshield when its parked is plenty in my opinion.

I agree but, just when driving the Sun heating up that large black dash plays a factor. Even with the AC on. The dash cover company was super backlogged so I didn't order. For now a towel when parked plus I need a better fitting sunshade. Mine's short for this car. I'll see what color reflects less glare back to the windshield when driving before i order a mat. Maybe black is the best for anti glare? I'd heavily tint the windows if I was in the desert. Cars used to have vinyl interiors, so I know about splitting. I am not worried about this cars dash doing the same, though.
