Crack noise when opening driver door

We have a 2016 Lexus ES350 with 42K miles as a CPO vehicle. When we swing open the driver door, it will sound something crack open. I looked around and there wasn't anything loose. The front passenger door doesn't make that sound at all.

Any ideas?

The the sound occur when the door is opened a specific angle?

Did you try squirting lubricant in the door hardware?

Yes, when I open the door even on a flat surface. I already put 3-in-1 oil around the hinges and it didn't make a difference so far today. I wonder if other ES350 have this similar issue?

I'd try shooting some WD-40 on the inside of the door post where the hinges are attached. As long as the door is not misaligned...

How about a visit to the dealer since it appears you are in warranty? Let them fix it.

My wife already asked the dealer, they said it's that way. The passenger side door doesn't have that issue.

I'll probably go with her again on the next visit. I can also try the WD-40. I have WD-40.

Thanks all.

I would use a silicon lubricant over WD-40.

Any brand in particular?

WD-40 now has a branded silicon lubricant. I use that on my door gaskets in winter. Any chance the noise is coming from a sticky door gasket breaking free?

Like Tootsall suggested, any brand, even WD-40 will do, the silicon will just be a better lubricant that will last longer.

I’m referring to this stuff...

I'll check it out later on Friday. I have WD-40. Thanks.

In addition to the hinges you should also lube the detent mechanism that holds the door open. Thats the rod you can see located between the upper and lower hinges.
Also check to see that the door edge and front fender are not touching each other, which can be caused by a minor fender bender.

Seems to be somehow better after the lub. Thanks.

Had the same cracking sound on my 2018 passenger side when I opened the door. It was the window sticking to the gasket at the top of the window. Here in Florida the heat makes the black gaskets stick a bit more. Dealer put a special silicone on my window / door gaskets and they’ve been fine since.
