Default How to reset maintenance reminder light

I have a 2014 300h. Up till now I had been taking it to the dealer for oil changes every 5,000 miles because I am paranoid about extending changes to 10,000 miles. This time around, with a new house and expenses, I decided that I will take the car to the dealer every 10,000 miles but change the oil in between at the 5,000 mile interval myself. I did that today and noticed that the oil drain plug did not appear to have a gasket. Since the oil was out and the stores were closed I just reinstalled the drain bolt without the gasket and it does not seem to leak at the present time. We will see what happens over time. And no, it did not go into the drain pan. I have a strainer in it. I am wondering if any of you noticed a gasket?

My other question is that I do not know how to reset the maintenance required light, which usually pops up 5,000 miles after the dealer oil change. I went into 'setup', 'vehicle', 'maintenance' and on that screen there are icons for oil change, filter change, wiper blade change etc reminders, but none of them were set to any mileage. The only entry in any of them was '20' in the year of the date. Nothing on the mileage.

Does one do this through some other app?

Thanks..

This is from page 658 of the 2013 ES manual. For the 2014 or 2015 ES, I suspect that the exact page is likely to be different, but it should be close.

■Reset the maintenance data (U.S.A. only)
After the required maintenance is performed according to the maintenance schedule,
please reset the maintenance data.
To reset the data, follow the procedure described below:
Switch the display to the trip meter “A” (P. 94) when the engine <hybrid system>
is running <operating>.
Turn the “START STOP ENGINE” <“POWER”> switch off.
While pressing the “ODO TRIP” button (P. 94), turn the “START STOP
ENGINE” <“POWER”> switch to the IGNITION ON <ON> mode (do not start
the engine <hybrid system> because otherwise the reset mode will be canceled).
■Allow inspection and repairs to be performed by a Lexus dealer
●Lexus technicians are well-trained specialists and are kept up to date with the latest
service information. They are well informed about the operations of all systems on
your vehicle.
●Keep a copy of the repair order. It proves that the maintenance that has been performed
is under warranty coverage. If any problem should arise while your vehicle
is under warranty, your Lexus dealer will promptly take care of it.
The message shown in the illustration will
appear on the display.
Continue to press and hold the button until
the trip meter displays “000000”.

Note that the procedure for re-setting the maintenance reminder changed with the 2016-2018 ES.

Can it be done with a code-reader?

FYI - for changing your own oil, a drain plug gasket should be used. I use an aftermarket part - Dorman 65394 M12. I buy a pack of 5 for around $4.00. It's just a copper washer available everywhere at parts stores...
