Question House Icon on Mirror

So, I just picked up my 2016 ES 350 a few days ago and I got the homelink programmed for my garage door, but I wanted to check on here and see if this is normal behavior or not. When I use the homelink button to open/close the garage door, a house icon will stay on the rear view mirror for quite a while before going away. I find that icon distracting until it finally does go away and I can't find anything about this on the boards or in the manual. Is this normal behavior or did I not complete the setup correctly?

Yes it is normal.

And please excuse my snarkyness, but how does a small icon, the size of a large pea, above your sight line, become a "distraction"?

I don't believe "quite a while" is normal. Can you define how long that is?

It stays on for a couple minutes after I press the button.

I'm 6'2", the rear view mirror is the center of my sight line.

I'm not sure if it's the exact same one in my GS (looks like it), but in mine, that icon only stays illuminated for a few seconds. Maybe 3-5 at most.

Update: I messed around with it for a while, just pressing random combinations of buttons, and it appears to be functioning normally now. I press the button, it does its thing and then it turns off, it's not staying on anymore. I have no idea what the true fix was, but it seems to be fine now.

Maybe it was in program mode.

That's my best guess, but this was through multiple times turning the car on/off and driving which is weird. I have no idea what was going on. I'm just glad it seems to work as intended now.

Mine stays on approximately 7 seconds but it is the size of a pencil eraser. I don't find that size to be distracting.

Below is a pic I took of what it was doing, in case anyone finds this thread later on with the same problem. This would stay on the rear view mirror for 2-5 minutes every time I pressed the button.

My comes on and stays on while the orange or green arrow blinks and when door is open or closed completely it goes off
I have a Lift Master 8500. I don’t know if that matters

I too have a Liftmaster and it stays on until the door is shut. For us that is about 15 seconds. Love the icon because I know that the door is opening or shutting. My 2013 did not have this and sometimes if going fast I thought that I pressed it completely and did not.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread. New 2023 GX460 and I have the same problem. The home link logo stays lit for several minutes after the button is pressed and door operation is complete. My wife’s 2022 RX and a previous 2022 GX did not exhibit the same behavior with the same garage door opener. Anybody have any ideas?

Working from a flawed memory but I thought I read something about the newest Homelink openers
are somehow "2-way" and communicate back to the remote that the garage door is open and thus vulnerable.
This is related to the newest smart phone link and Alexa commands that let you check while away from home
that the door is open or closed. Perhaps our random and intermittent long light symptom is trying to tell us something?
