Lane wander 2014 ES

2014 ES. Requires constant correction. Can never simply hold a line without steering input. Even on non-windy days. Really bad if windy. All of the other cars in our family track straight with no issues.

Michelin Premiers with 10k on them. 36psi all around.

Attaching photo of latest alignment by Lexus.

Anyone else been down this road ... and found reasonable solution?

Google to see if those tires have a soft or stiffer sidewall, which could lead to the problem/issue.

I have Michelin Premier's on my wife's Acura, and it tracks perfectly.

is that chart before or After Alignment? Toe being out of whack, which it appears to be , WILL cause wandering issues.

Top section is before, bottom is after. (It is labeled)

Ask the dealership to see if their alignment rack is calibrated. Then ask them to take the camber bolt out, clean the holes and then try to do the alignment, had this same issue on our CR-V, which was fixed by reseating the cam bolt. you can also get more Highway stability with more positive camber in the rear.

thats what I get for reading on my (ancient) phone. Lol.

I tried to to find the factory alignment specs to cross check them, but couldn’t.

Were you having the problem before and after alignment?

Good luck.

Haha ... yes, the type is pretty tiny on the phone. Easy to miss.

But yes, was an issue before alignment, and still wanders after.

Looking for suggestions.

Will bring this up with them next time I am at the dealer.

This car could absolutely use more hwy stability. Zero 'on center' feel when cruising. Constantly back and forth, and gets pushed around by wind.

Did this wandering start after getting the new tires? Check to see if the tires are mounted on the wheel the right direction. Lot of stability issue can be caused bad tires, so check the tires are good quality even if they are Michelin. Tire pressure can also cause wandering.

I also have a 2014 ES with Premiers, about 12,000 miles, also around 36psi with no wandering. Probably the alignment? I assume the frame was never bent in a crash. My tires were first bought and mounted by Costco and rotated by Toyota. I am away from my garage but I assume the tires are not directional - but if they are, then incorrect mounting could be the culprit.

You don't indicate the model of Acura, but my Mom had an 07 Acura TL, rode like a log wagon from day one with OEM tires, and the replacements. I put some Michelins on it and it rode better but still in the log wagon catergory IMO .Two different suspensions except for the overall design. Acura's have a stiffer/sportier suspension IMO, while the ES has a softer/floatier ride.

2013 TL SH-AWD. Goes down the road straight as an arrow. Same for our 2015 Highlander. Same for our son's 2012 Buick LaCrosse, with over 100k miles, and whatever bargain tires his grandfather had on it. Tracks fine.

Only the ES requires constant steering correction.

Did the alignment improve it at all, or is it just as bad after as it was before?

Mike728 04-19-19 07:45 AM

Did you just purchase this car? If not, when did it start happening?
