Any problems with 2013+?

I’m looking to buy a 2013+ model, 350 or 300h.
I’m coming from the 5ES which had a lot of common problems (Shift flare, water pump leak, VVT-i line rupture, rattles and squeaks).

How was the 6ES holding up? Any common problems or something to worry about? Thanks!

Come on, it's a Lexus the most reliable auto maker of them all...

Hmm, I never had any issues with my 5th gen, so far my 6th gen has been the same.

It would appear that the Generation 6 ES has been an especially reliable vehicle. If you look through the posts on the Generation 6 CL forum for the past 6+ years, you will find a remarkably small number of threads started by people who were posting because of some sort of problem. And, when there are threads about a problem, it generally appears to an isolated issue and not a problem that affects a large number of cars.

If you look at internet forums about various other vehicles, the number of posts about problems with those cars is generally significantly higher than what you will find for the Generation 6 ES. Even with usually very reliable Lexus vehicles, you will find more reports of problems for most, possibly all, models than you will find for the Generation 6 ES. If you look, for example, at the CL Generation 4 RX board, you will find a couple of threads that now extend to about 100 pages long and deal with ongoing issues that seem to affect a good number of vehicles. And, even though the Generation 7 ES has only been available for a few months, there are already a couple of threads on that board extending to a fair number of pages about issues related to the ML audio system and wind noise from the driver's side. Even after 6+ years, I don't recall similar long threads about the Generation 6 ES.

Bought my 2013 ES new a little over 5 years ago... it's been a great car. Very reliable and comfortable.

Bought my '13 ES as a two-year old CPO with 8K miles. Other than having to have the sunroof replaced (under warranty, whew... ;-) for the recognized rattling problem there have been no issues what so ev'ah

Had a 2013 ES 300h and currently a 2017 ES 300h. Never have had one issue. Just normal maintenance. J D Power has ranked Lexus #1 in reliability for 8 years in a row. The ES consistently ranks # 1 in reliability in the mid size premium category.

Holy cow Roland thanks for making feel old. Seems like a year ago reading your post on your new purchase. Always enjoy your post.

My wife has driven her 13 300h since December 2012 70k mi with no issues (other than a column in a parking garage jumping out behind her).

I'll reply, for what it's worth. I've had my ES for 6 years next month, but I only have 20k miles on it. I put 15k on the first year and then moved and started taking the train into work. The only issue I've had was with the battery. The issue showed up as soon as I started driving less. It couldn't sit in the garage for more than a couple days without dying. This forum helped me to find a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) that addressed the issue and the dealer took care of it under warranty. Has been fine now for about 2 years.

Never went back for any repair related issues. Now another member is enjoying my pristine 2013 Lux edition while I enjoy my 2019 Ultra Lux edition... If you like it buy it...

on the carfax for the cpo I bought from the dealer also had the battery changed twice within a few months. The sales reps only excuse was that if they think somethings wrong with it they want trouble shoot it too much and just replace the battery. Fishy but I didnt push any further. Its been 1 year and the battery thank God knock on wood havnt given me any problems even starting in 10degree weather

I have a 14ESh with 50K miles on it. Had the following problems:
1) AC evaporator developed mold when I lived in humid Columbus, Ohio. Dealer had to take care of it. I was advised to use only fresh air (not recirc) and dry out the system before the end of a trip by turning off the compressor and keeping the fan on for a few mins. Dont know hey this never happened to any other car we had in Columbus.
2) Very rarely the entire audio system, (radio, map, nav) shuts off by itself. The only way to get it going again is to bring the car to a stop and turning the ignition off and then on again. This happens so rarely that the dealer has not been able to diagnose the cause.

Other than that no issues.
