in our neck of the woods the Toyo dealers have "special" mechanics and all they are qualified to do is oil changes. If a different service question arises during an oil change they have a "real" mechanic look at the car.
These oil change mechanics don't have to be Toyota or Ase certified and also can work at Walmart changing oil
no such practice at the Lexus dealership, hence the $150 vs $50 for the oil change
#safe harbor statement# all examples above are complete fiction and do not apply to any specific dealership or city in the USA
LOL, those are not "mechanics". They are technicians, which Lexus also employs. Also, if you're paying $150 for an oil change at Lexus, you're getting ripped off! Until this year I was going to them for my oil changes. Cost was ~$95.

I take it to a local garage that I've been using for a long time. Any good garage (I know, I know...) should be able to do pretty much everything that normally needs to be done or serviced on these cars (e.g., brakes, exhaust, filters, general repairs). These are Toyotas and they are as common as Buicks used to be, so any experienced shop should be to handle pretty much everything.
But if you don't have a regular shop, that you've used and trust, take it to a Toyota dealer.

My wife's Honda is 8 years old and has had nothing done but what I mentioned above. Wear items, like brakes, are different, though.
We drive the ES300h about 130 miles a week and the ES350 about 60 miles a week so visits for routine maintenance are not very often. The Lexus dealer we use has always treated us well and does not, in my opinion, charge us excessively. They are also close to shopping centers we would not normally visit. So with the loaner car we have a couple of hours to browse.

For everyone saying they do everything, even simple oil changes at a Lexus dealership, then you are most likely getting ripped off. I understand going there for convenience, but the ES350 is not some NASA or SpaceX rocket or even some exotic vehicle. Most everyone can do an oil change and tire rotation, which are the most common service items. Change the cabin and engine air filter yourself and that's most all of the service items.

+1. I can understand members not wanting to lay on their driveway and get oil in their hair changing oil and filter. It's not for everyone. I just enjoy doing it myself. However I wouldn't pay the exorbitant price that the dealer charges only because as HouseB328 states: most any garage can do an oil change and switch the tires around. And usually at a price substantially less than the dealer.

Take my 2008 ES 350 to my local Firestone dealer. I bought it new. Has 208,000 miles on it. Never a problem! (of course it may help that his wife has the exact same car!!). Bought a 2017 Ultra ES 350 last year. Took back to the dealer for the two freebies. From now on, it will be back to the local Firestone dealer!

By the way, I still own the 08! Too good of a car to trade in! You can’t wear these cars out!!

Are you sure the oil they are using is 5w30? The recommended motor oil for the 6th generation ES is 0w20.

Wow! Lexus Plus dealerships rip you off on all fronts. If you can't do your own oil changes, you really should take it to a nearby Toyota dealer. I'm sure they'll even use the correct oil for less money.

Geez, I'd do your oil change for $142.00... And even use the correct weight oil...

Synth oil plus filter change from my local garage (i.e., not a dealer) $100.

I just brought mine in for the first of my 4 free services. I asked about what the normal prices were. They told me $300 something for the oil change service. And the non-oil change services were $100 something. Talk about crazy!! Then they told me I needed new tires & it'll cost $1,000 something.

Yeah..... They won't be seeing much of me there after my free services are used up.

Now that is really exorbitant. Tell the SM that you were born at night but not last night...

One of your earlier posts a few months ago said you purchased Certified 2016 ES 350 with 17k on the dial. How could it possibly need new tires?
