Heh, happened to me just after getting my CPO '13 in Sept '15. Pulled into a parking space, opened the door, got out, remembered to touch the door handle to lock, and... nothing.
Well it did beep at me but I couldn't figure out why. Pharted around for a bit wondering why I couldn't lock the door. Finally got back in and noticed that the tach showed ~800 RPM.
The engine was still on!

Wasn't used to key-less ignition and had completely forgotten to touch the start button to shut it off.

Of course it wouldn't allow me to lock the door with the engine still running... :-)

Haven't made that mistake since (but I've come close... ;-)

I've got a Japan-build ES300h, these are the noises I've had so far:
- grab handles rattle on bumpy roads
- passenger seat belt buckle can rattle against the door if no one is sitting in the seat and it's positioned far back
- intermittent rattle from the dash gauges or steering wheel in very cold weather

I've fixed the first two. No luck with the last one, I couldn't replicate it when the car's in for servicing.

How did you fix the first two. Diy would be awesome.

I applied some felt to the grab handle hinges, in between the metal bits and the headliner. As for the passenger seat belt buckle, I just move the passenger seat forward so the buckle isn't in contact with the B pillar.

For the handles if you can grab me a pic so I can see the exact location

Yea this is my same question which is why I asked for a visual.

I took small blocks of foam (about 1 inch x 1 inch x 1/2 inch), compressed them, and, then, squeezed them through the small space between the caps that cover the hinges and the headliner without removing the caps. I did it about 3 1/2 years ago, and I haven't heard a sound from the assist handles since then. I think that, even if the foam didn't end up in the ideal location under the caps, just filling the space with the foam restricted unnecessary movement that might otherwise have caused the chatter.

I have a '16 US built ES- 6,000 miles in 5 months and no rattles, squeaks, cracks, etc. Quietest, best riding and apparently the best built Lexus of the 4 new ones I've driven off the lot.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "fat" piece, but I stuck the foam inside/below the caps that cover the hinges for the assist handles.

Ok so you opened the skinny piece right under neath the handle.

No, I didn't open anything. I just compressed the foam so that I could push it with a flat screwdriver blade under the caps over the hinges (again, without removing or opening anything up).

Got my car from a dealer on November 8. They did confirm the sound. Removed headliner and did some thighting in sunroof housing.
Fine. Full of hopes drove home. Pulled on driveway...bammm --same sound "cr-r-a-ack"... :mad:

In a couple of days sound heard even when driving over the small potholes.

Took it back to a deler for third time on 11/14. As of today car is stil there. Spoken to a Service Manager on the 15th he promised to call me back in half hour (still waiting).

Lexus started the case and have a person assigned to me. He is contacting dealer and telling me the outcome. So far noise confirmed. What would be the next depends on dealer reply and result of repair.
When called Lexus, person on the phone mentioned that mine was his second call for the day about the same issue (???).

Interestenly that my loaner has twice more mileage (10K) but no noise.

Another observation: loaner drives totally different than mine. It does have less options but as far as acceleration - loaner is noticeable slower. It is low grade gas used by customers?
