want to set anything up on this cell phone.

Can I just use the key fob to start the car? :-)

Your dealer should have set up and activated your trial Enform subscription before the car was delivered to you. If they didn't, you should be able to go to the Lexus Drivers website and set it up yourself.

http://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/lexusenform

http://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/register

Alternatively, if you call the dealer, I'm sure that they can set up the account for you.

Canadian vehicles have different configurations of standard equipment and options from those in the US. I just checked the Lexus Canada website, and it appears that, for the ES sold in Canada, the remote starter is an option with a price of about $950. So, if it isn't listed among the vehicle options on your window sticker, I'd guess that your car doesn't have the remote starter.

It may as well be an option here, it only works for a trial period then you have to pay to keep it working.

I recently purchased a fully loaded 16. I haven't activated the app and tried the remote start and it didn't work for me.

This is an add-on factory remote start that would work on your car without any paid subscription. Works with your smart key fob only - no smart phone application. There are also numerous after market systems that are about half the price of the Lexus remote that use the Lexus smart key - no second fob required. Most have far superior range than the Lexus remote which has been reported on this forum as poor.
The majority of these remote start systems cost about $300.00 installed.

Just got a '16 as well. At first the Key FOB did not work for me. (While my Enform Remote was in "Pending" status...I had issues with the activation and it took longer than normal to work out) As soon as my Enform Remote situation got ironed out and my vehicle went active on Enform, the key fob started working. We have one year of the trial period for Enform to make a decision to subscribe or not.

thanks!

There are several manufacturers that have different lines within their products. Some you can use the Lexus Smartkey and some you cannot. I purchased an Audiovox unit several years ago and it works perfectly with good range. You should research the major suppliers such as Viper, Audiovox, and Compustar. There are probably others as well.

I have a 2014 ES350 that had no factory remote start. I proceeded by installing an after-market Fortin EVO-ONE remote start unit that supported OEM 3xLock to remote start. What I found out immediately after installing is the range of Lexus OEM Fob is way too short for remote start to be useful. Soon after, I installed a long range (3000ft) RF442W two way remote kit. Now I can remote start my car easily from inside of a grocery store and get confirmation. I definitely believe that if you don't already have factory remote start, it's much better to get an aftermarket system that can be paired up with long range two way remotes.

great thread. I'm still confused about the 2016s though - will it still work if we let our free trial of enform connect/remote expire?

Although, not sure how much I will use it given the range. I would want to be able to start car when parked some distance away to cool off in the heat , so the app is more practical in this sense. I assume the range of the fob is no more than maybe, 40 feet?
