Just to have a bit of fun to celebrate the days getting warmer, I've been trying full throttle traffic light takeoffs in Sport mode on the ESh. I love the loud whine the electric motors give before the engine kicks in. It even sounds like a (really slow) Tesla, check out the P85D acceleration demo videos on YouTube to hear it. The ESh is pretty fast up to 60 km/h thanks to electric torque, after which the engine does most of the work.

 

Depending on the reviewer, the 300h goes 0-60 in about 8 sec, a second slower than the 350. Not bad for a hybrid, which are usually in the 10 sec territory. .

 

0-60 mph is pretty slow but 0-60 km/h is pretty fast for a hybrid. The engine only engages above 40 km/h when I'm flooring it in Sport mode. Apparently 650 V coming from the battery pack in Sport mode means more torque but I haven't seen any dyno curves for the ESh.
That's plenty of torque to look dumb spinning the front wheels on wet pavement

On the other hand, fast and wet mountain roads with electric torque on a heavy front driver, man I wish that GS450h was a lot cheaper...

 

I think a Tesla is more your style .

 

You can definitely feel the torque from the electric motors in the 300h. The 350 is actually about 20% quicker according to a couple of sources and their 0-60 times. But the Lexus and Toyota are no slouches vs. other hybrids..

 

Lexus as well as reviews show about a one second difference between the 350 and the 300h in the 0-60 spec. That's pretty quick even for many non hybrids (non high performance) too.
