How old is everyone?
 

I've always heard the ES was for older folks. So I'm curious, how old are you guys?

I'll start, I'm 28 and this is also my first Lexus which is a 2015 ES 350.

Congrats on the new ES. Keep in mind that forums like this are frequented by a younger demographic/enthusiast crowd and may not be representative of the total picture.

Congrats on a good pick up. I'm also 28. First car was an 2004 IS300, then 2007 750li Bimmer sports pkg, then gs350 awd (totalled), 2012 karma fisker, 2014 es350 (everyday driver) cause I really grew out of the phase. So don't feel old, it's just a phase and life haha

I'm just a little bit older than you. The current ES seems to be attracting a younger crowd because of the styling and relatively cheap price for a large luxury car. And fuel economy too, for me at least, with the 300h. I guess we've flushed out the need for speed a bit earlier than usual :)

Im 52, going on 32 :-). I have a 2015 ES Crafted edition, love it and it looks very sporty....In 2010 I had a GS 350 and RX 350 for the spouse. They're great cars and so dependable.

I was 28 once... 32 years ago.... my first lexus also, bought a new 2013 Es last year... love it.

In the past I would never had considered the ES, but they did a great job with the new styling. I was really wanting an IS350 but the size of the car was small for my needs with having 2 little ones in car seats. The car surprising is quick and the mpg is pretty great, got 28.5 with less than 700 miles that was with 40% city/ 60 % highway. Only complaint is the wind noise, besides that love the car.

I'm 40, owned a Honda Prelude, and Mazda 3 after that, both cars drove over 10 years. This is my third car, with a family of 4 now, need the plush ride, and Lexus legendary isolated cabin & bulletproof reliability.

My 60th birthday present to myself this past August is my first Lexus (14 ES - Starfire/Black, Lux, Nav, BSW, IPA, gloss wheels, illuminated door sills). I had 4 Acura TL's prior to this upgrade. I'd test-driven previous ES's before but it wasn't until I drove this generation that I was inclined to make the switch. I have no regrets!

I had a couple Subarus early on in Alaska, worked great for "mild" four-wheeling around. Then in Texas, I got an Acura TL-S, a wonderful and fun "luxury sport sedan"--I could drive "spirited". Now, at 50, I had to decide to stay "sport sedan" or go more luxury. Since I keep my cars for 10+ years, I have to figure what would I still want at 55 and 60? I'm a "creature feature" person--I love buttons! Plus, with the Sub's and Acura, I wanted to keep FWD. So I ended up with the 2014 ES UL/ML+loaded. I enjoy it a bunch. Not quite as throttle responsive as the Acura, but with the manu-matic (my wife calls it my "pacifier") I can play with the gears if I feel inclined...or I can sit back and just enjoy the ride.

I agree the styling is attempting to target a younger audience. I don't see an issue with that. You can get the IS if you want more sporty or the ES for more luxury...and the GS/LS if you have bucks. So I think the Lexus lineup works fine. I contemplated the IS for the sport side, but again, sided with the ES (FWD, features, larger).

I have owned several Lexus models, LS, SC, GS, RX, HS and now my first ES bought new in 2013. I am 61 and my first Lexus was a 1998 GS purchased new so I have been a Lexus enthusiast since I was 45. The new styling of the ES won me over to the model. As others have said, it is about 80% of an LS for half the price. I am very happy with the car and the fuel mileage. :)

I am 24, I got rid of my 328xi for the es350. My plan is to keep the es until the wheels fall off for commuting and get an rcf for the weekend at some point.

61 and from the generation that appreciates a quiet cabin and soft ride for minimal driver fatigue on long trips. I was all set to get a 2015 ES350 until last weekend when on a business trip Alamo gave me a new 2015 Camry 4 cyl to rent. I was impressed at the improvements Toyota made to the 2015 Camry, from the GS350 like styling to the improved ride, quietness, and additional soft touch materials in the cabin and the improved transmission shift programming that keeps the motor in the higher gears longer for an improved sense of power. While renting the Camry I stopped by a Lexus dealer to test drive a 2015 ES350 and drove it on the same stretch of bumpy road that I drove the 2015 Camry on and didn't notice too much of a difference between the two cars in ride comfort and quietness. So I am now wrestling with a 2015 Camry vs 2015 ES350 decision.

Like several others here I have enjoyed driving a sporty, good handling car with excellent performance. Thus I have owned a 2001, 2006 and 2010 Acura TL. When test driving these cars, all bought new, I always tried the competition including the Lexus ES models but found them too disconnected from the driving experience. However, upon turning 72 last year I found that my preferences were changing towards more luxury and a smoother quieter ride. And Lexus had also changed to a bit more sporty ride. We met in the middle and I bought a top of the line loaded 2014 ES 300h.

58 and this is my first Lexus. Use it for 110 mile round trip daily commute. The best car I have ever had.
