Default Speed Dial now dimming when driving

In the last couple weeks, once the car starts moving the Speed Dial button dims. Does this also on our 2013 RX350. I've had the car for a year and I can't believe that its been this way the entire time. I'm so certain it recently started. I had to revert to clicking the Call History button sometimes.

I feel it either corresponds to update to iPhone IOS 8 or iPhone 6. If that is the trigger, I'm surprised the Speed Dial is not controlled by the car vs the phone.

I was at Lexus service yesterday and they think its working as expected. Why would one not be able to click Speed Dial, but be able to click Call History and then taking eyes off the road to look at the screen and scroll to find a number!!!

One of the lexus folks was in the car and paired his phone that was an older iPhone and was not OS8.

I think that you can use voice control to make a call. Press voice button on steering wheel and state name.

Thats what the Lexus people told me, but I've not been fond of the voice dialing. I haven't tried for awhile, but It seemed like there was too many prompts to answer.
