Like the wheels, but with those tires it looks a little off.
As mentioned - it's not so much the diameter of the rim, it's the outside diameter of the tire that matters.
I've seen tire/wheel calculators online where you punch in the wheel size and tire size and it'll tell you the overall size. There was one out there that allowed you to compare 2 setups so you can see the different in size and percentage.
You don't want to throw it off too much otherwise your speedo will read wrong and you might possibly accumulate more miles on the odo than you have actually driven.
Personally I'd find the proper tire for the wheels and then sell off the tires.

I agree. I like the wheels too. I think 225/55/17 is the proper 17" tire size for the ES?
Lesz.... Im using an 18 in wheel now. I used a 17 before. The tire is smaller ( for now ) but the actual wheel is bigger. I do expect the fuel economy to suffer a bit though. I havent driven it enough to see just how much . So far i cant see a difference.

I was careless in reading your earlier post, and I thought that the IS wheels that you have now are 17 inch wheels.

The tires that come with the ES with 17 inch wheels are P215/55R17, and the tires that come with the ES with 18 inch wheels are P225/45R18. The total diameters of both of those tire and wheel combinations should be very close. According to my calculations, the 18 inch wheels with the P225/45R tires have a total diameter of about 26 inches, and the 17 inch wheels with the P215/55R tires have a total diameter of about 26 1/4 inches. If the diameter of the wheels and tires is not close to being in that range, the speedometer, odometer, and mpg calculations are not going to be accurate.
What is the size of the tires that you are now using with the IS wheels? If you post the size of the tires you have now, I can easily calculate the diameter of the tire/wheel combination determine if you have the right size tires for the new wheels and the ES.
The rims came with those tires so thats the only reason that i got them. Im already looking to get something that better suits my car.
The diameter of both your front and rear wheel and tire combinations is almost exactly 25 inches. So, that puts the diameters about 1 to 1 1/4 inch smaller than you would have with ES rims and the standard ES-size tires for those rims.
You can figure that your speedometer, odometer, and mpg calculations are going to be off by about 1% for every 1/4 of an inch that your wheel and tire diameter is off. So, in your case, the speedometer and odometer are going to be reading speeds and miles that are about 4-5% higher than they really are, and your mpg calculations are going to be about 4-5% higher than they really are.

i know this is an old thread but if anyone has had success with larger tires on staggered rims I’d love to hear about it.
I purchased staggered rims/tires from an is350 and I’m running 225/40/19s in front and 255/35/19s in back. 19x8 front and 19x9 rear. I would like larger (taller) tires but I’m not sure what the best option would be. Thanks for anyone who can chime in.
215/55-17 is stock size. 225/45-18 is F-sport size. Going on overall diameter, 235/45-18 is the closest to the 215/55-17. I went to 18's on my 2017 ES, but I wanted a little more cushion. I went with 245/45-18 and have no complaints at all. Preserved the ride and increased handling.
