Default Broken Cruise Control Stem

The cruise control stem came off today. I checked it out with a flashlight and it looks like the plastic just broke off inside the little flat plastic (or rubber) boot. I’m not rough with it and the only other people to drive the car are the dealer or the detail people I use. Maybe a detailer leaned on it while working in that area. But that was about 3 weeks ago and it showed no signs of any problems until today. I’ve driven a lot of miles on a lot of cars and this has never happened to me before. 2013 ES300h, 18k,
Looks like a loaner for this one.

This is the same cruise control stalk that is used in all Toyota and Lexus vehicles (from the Yaris to the LS). Have never heard of this one happening before in any model...

Sorry to hear the problem. Hopefully it isn't to expensive to repair.

I agree. I have been driving for close to 53 years and can't recall a problem like this. Of course much of that time I didn't have cruise control.

Where I bought the car wanted $260 to fix it so I took it to another dealer who wanted $230 at first but then they came up with a $30 internet coupon which made the final $202.73. Not too bad.
It had been working fine and when I set the speed it came loose and then apart. It was suggested that maybe I bumped it with my knee. Who knows? I’m glad to have it back because I use it all the time and automatically kept trying to use it.
