very disappointed, just purchased my 2014 Lexus Is 250 F-Sport last week and the CHECK BSM error is flashing on my dash already!!!! any idea what the dealer does to fix this issue? Is this a well known issue? seems like everyone seems to know about this except the dealers.

 

I bought my 2014 ES 350 on June 13th. When they took it in to prep it they discovered a chewed wiring harness. I got my new car a month later on July 13th. It wasn't the diagnosis or the parts, etc. It was a simple fix. They had to wait for Lexus "mother" to approve this warranty work--warranty since the car was technically bought at that time. Anyway, I can't complain to anyone at the dealer. This is how Lexus Corp works. They have, apparently, piles 'o paperwork or legal stuff seemingly to jump through. Since I didn't have my car at all, I wash't missing out on anything short of the disappointment of not walking out with it (ES 350 UL/ML + everything). Food for thought: turns out the wiring harnesses (this one was in the engine compartment just in front of the steering wheel) use peanut oil in the plastic to try and be environment friendly. Well, if you leave your car alone for a while, critters might get near, get a whiff, and try it out for food. I suspect others in the industry are doing the same thing. I want to park on the street but now I park in the garage. Otherwise, I've had no issues and am enjoy the car very much--including the ML system which I can hear subtle instruments at 70 MPH! Nice.

 

BSM problem started early December 2013 on my 2013 es300h. Three times at dealer's. For some reason Lexus was loathe to replace to Master BSM monitor. Finally, after the fourth visit to dealer, they replaced the Master BSM monitor, and has been working since without fail.
