I just googled and it looks like Ace Hardware and o'reilly auto parts sell it.

I've got to do some more research. Some say to don't do anything otherwise, it can be worst.

On the car care, it's basically vinyl/leather treatment (what we're researching) and Scotchguard on the rest. It's what they call dealer added value (padding).

Well good luck with that, with so many opinions and products out there.

I've found that once you start applying a chemical solution to the dash surface, you must continue to apply it. Otherwise it looks uneven and is very difficult to maintain. My choice is simply clean water.

RE 303 Protectant you can also get it at marine/boat stores or amazon. I use it all the time on the vinyl on the boat and on other vehicles but have not used it on the 300h.

As an aside, they also make a 303 Fabric protectant that works great to waterproof and UV protect Sunbrella and other fabrics. I use it on the boat cover and patio furniture cushions.

I'm a slightly damp terry cloth guy too. Every now and then I use Meguiar's Quick Detailer and am satisfied with the results.

The vinyl in today's cars doesn't seem to show dust as badly as it used to.

Is the 303 Fabric protectant better than Scotchguard? Nice option, and good for my outdoor patio furnishings.

I believe so. It is recommended/endorsed by Sunbrella, which is a fabric that is used in higher quality patio cushions and awnings (check out the Sunbrella website under care).

Sounds like a great product for patio furniture and umbrellas. Not so much for a Lexus dash...

I have been detailing cars for 15 years and have never known a microfiber cloth to scratch plastic. I've cleaned plastic lenses on gauges and nav screens in my cars for years and years with MF and have never had one scratched.

What kind of "towel" are you using?

Bill- There's a 303 Aerospace for vinyl (dash) and for fabric there's 303 Fabric, if that's what you're thinking. Maybe you're more of a purist, and only distilled water will do?

Like I said, many differing opinions on this matter. Not such a simple answer.

Not all microfiber cloths are the same. There are varying degrees of thickness and rigidity. Some for cleaning a floor, some for wiping a TV screen. For me, a damp, clean, 100% cotton terry cloth towel not only will not leave ANY marks, but effectively cleans dust from vinyl leaving no residue.

Arty is right; there are many opinions and methods used by car enthusiasts. No one is right or wrong. Whatever works for you is the right method. BTW Art I don't use distilled water, only tap but not a bad idea... LOL.

Of course there are varying qualities of microfiber cloths, which is why you need to buy high quality ones.

I have never seen a terry cloth towel that would not scratch something as delicate as the IP lens.

Gotta say -- I LOVE my Swiffer!
Does an amazing job taking care of the dust on EVERY surface and especially in the tight spaces, and certainly no scratches!

But, good info to consider, since I know I'll have to actually do a "cleaning" eventually.
I've heard good things about "Mother's"...

Anyone else?
