Certainly with a difference of $6200 from the price you sold your car for and what you had been offered by a dealer in trade that's enough to cover the bother of selling it yourself and covers what you lost in sales tax.

I don't have that much of a spread on my vehicle. I will be asking my insurance agent about the diminished value business.

Thanks for the ideas.
I'm in Jersey and it's a No Fault state too.
I was rear ended to the tune of $8K with the wife's Camry hybrid in '11 and did collect $1100 in diminished value.
Wasn't easy as I went after the other party's insurance company and the accident was 100% their fault.
Did lose $1500 when I traded the Camry in,though.
I probably could have held out for more $$$ but diminished value was not really heard of here in Jersey at the time.
The southern states have had diminished value for awhile.

Oh and the Carfax somehow showed front end damage.

No airbag deployment. The accident was a simple hit to the rear end on a rainy day by a teenager talking on her cell phone. Think that the damage was around 2K and the new bumper that was replaced took 3 attempts because the ins. co. insisted on non Nissan part being tried and when they didn't fit right finally OK'd the Nissan bumper. Wound up taking 3 weeks instead of the original estimate of 3 days. Ins. Co. paid for the rental car for that time as well.
