So do the 245 45s fit the stock 18s without rubbing?
245/45/18 is perfect. Handles and rides better too on that big ES. Many have run them. The perfect tire is the Pirelli P7 A+S Plus II 70k treadwear rating also. You will never look back.
One of many threads with 245/45/18 Pirelli's. The GS guys run them too that have the 18" Lux wheels.

Perfect, thanks. The 225s look good but there is very little rim protection. Much rather have more cushion for pushin (on down the road)...
Because the ES is such a big heavy car, the 245/45/18 actually handled better than the lower profile tire. I know because I had the different sizes. the difference is height is only 0.35 but the 245/45/18 is wider too by 0.79 wider.
The other thing I liked was that it slowed the mileage odometer down too. Some ES's 18 wheels had the speedo turning faster that it was, so the 245/45/18 actually leveled it out.
@jgscott thanks for the tip on the 245’s. I just ordered a set for the new 18’s I picked up. I’m going with Goodyear Assurance Comfortdrive. Lol I know they sound like old lady tires, but they are very quiet on the road. The extra sidewall is a plus too, and the wider tires will fit my 8” wide wheels better than 225’s. I’m not thrilled that the speedo/odometer will run a little slower, but to me it’s not a deal breaker as I’d rather have a soother and more comfortable ride.

You may want to check your speedo now with a GSP speed phone app. You may find your speedo is running faster that you really going right now with the stock size tires. Actually 3 of us with 18" found the 245/45/18 made it closer to more accurate than with the Stock tires.

I took a long highway drive last night: I kept the car’s speedo exactly at 60 on a long flat straight, and the gps speedometer read 58. I did this experiment a number of times and at various speeds. The car’s speedometer definitely appears to be 2mph fast with the stock 225/45R18 tires.

that’s exactly the same readings I get with the stock 225/45-18 tires on my 2014 UL ES350.
Thats exactly what I said. Thats why 245/45/18 evens it out. At a even faster speed 70+ it gets worst in showing the incorrect spedo miles. The other thing I dont like about that is.......... that also racks up a little faster miles on the Odometer with the 225/45/18.
Compared to the original 215/55-17 the 225/45-18 is a little undersized while the 245/45-18 is a little oversized. For those looking for the most accuracy in the conversion from 17 to 18 the proper size would be a 235/45-18. This will yield almost identical overall diameter and revolutions per mile compared to the original size that the cars were geared for. I myself chose the 245 route as I appreciate the extra cushion and don’t mind if my speedo is off by < 1 mph at 60.
For the record by experience, the 245/45/18 is the best match. BMW and MB use that size for thier like size cars funny as it is. With a good tire ex. Perelli P7 the handleing is actually better that the lower side wall tire. And the car slips less/grips better on hard acceleration from the start. Again the Tire is only only 0.35 Taller, but the 245/45/18 is wider too by 0.79 wider.
