I believe there's already a thread here or in the 4GS forum that has a similar topic and someone said they wouldn't pay the extra maintenance for more than $1K and buy it as you go down the road while using the initial services offered. ~2K for 5 years sounds a bit too much.

My dealer sold me the same 5 year, 50k for the ES300h for $1600, with the first 2 included from the manufacturer. Mind you, they only change the synthetic oil every other service on the 300h. I went over the cost for the same period with my service advisor and it was priced a little bit more then his ala carte prices. Needless to say, I was able to cancel and get a refund on the maintenance contract within the first 2 weeks. Also, the maintenance plan does NOT include any wear items (tires, brakes, rotors, interior air filters and wipers). I do expect the cost to go up with inflation, but as the SA said, the maintenance plan also means you need to at least drive 10k a year and bring it in for service on schedule.

My dealer sold me a $1600 plan for $1150 (for 4 years) and I was wondering the same thing. I am going to call the service department and find out how much all the services would cost. He stated that it covered all scheduled maintenance in addition to oil changes which makes it sound like a good deal. I suggest you call your service department to get pricing. Synthetic oil changes are quite costly and can make up most of the cost.
Dealers can and do discount these service plans, so asking for a discount may save you some additional money.

For me, the tire rotation and balances would be the most costly at every 5000 miles. It's free if you buy tires from SAMs club. Or $10 a tire from Walmart. Big savings but I'm skittish about Walmart touching my lexus. Camry is ok for them to touch :P

I don't think these plans are ever a good deal and I would try to get my money back if you have already paid. I lease my ES and hope to get through the 36 months with a paid oil change at at 20K and 30K with synthecis and free tire rotations at Discount Tire when needed for a total of $200. If you are keeping your car for a longer period you might have to do a little more.

I really don't see the need to balance unless you're having an issue but whatever floats your boat..
You would know if balancing is off of front tires by the steering wheel shake at highway speed and/or rear tires by your behind in the seat vibration.

I Forgot to add replacing the cabin filters at 10K and 20K and the engine air filter as well as keyfob batteries at 20K. Probably from Sewell or Checker for maybe another $100 or less.

When my Lexus was due for service I'd look online at the two dealerships that I did business with, they always have Service Specials, coupons etc. with decent savings. I get direct mail offers from them too. So I don't think there really a need for prepaid service programs.

You can buy a case of 6 quarts of Mobil 1 at Costco - particularly when they are on sale for approximately $30 - then get any mechanic you trust to change it and an oil filter (that you have purchased from either a Lexus or Toyota Dealer) - probably the whole thing will run you $50 - $60!

My dealer will charge around $200 for the 20k, 40k and 50k service including the synthetic oil change. $90 for the 15k, 25k, 35k and 45k service check (whatever that includes other than check). The 30k is the major service which is more than the rest.
