Question Disconnect Battery for Lock Actuator Replacement?

Hi everyone, I'm beginning the process to replace the lock actuator for the driver's door on my 2013 ES350, and I had a question before I got into it. There are plenty of walkthroughs online on how to carry out the replacement, which is great; however, I was wondering whether or not I should disconnect the battery before I started working with the electronics, and all the tutorials fail to address this. I realize this is more of a general automotive question rather than directly linked to this car, but as I'm pretty new to working on my own car, I was wondering if anyone had any guidance for me. Sorry if this is a silly question, but I'd appreciate any help.

As a general rule, I've seen most T.O.s recommend disconnecting the battery for any electrical work. The computer modules don't like electrical spikes. YMMV
