Is this Lexus Suspicious??
Why would a new Lexus sit at the Lexus dealership for a year before it was sold? Seems peculiar, doesn’t it?
I’m considering buying a used 2015 Lexus es300h. It only has 40,000 miles, one owner and is in great condition. However, it sat on the dealership’s lot for a year and a half back when it was new in 2015 before it was sold. Should I avoid this car? Thank you. |
Inspect it in-person. Recent history is much more important than when the car went into service

Look very carefully for evidence of hail, water, or flood damage. Take the VIN and call up a Carfax report on it. Likewise check the history on the Lexus.com website. If all of that is good, take it for a test drive and check ALL of the features including radio (all modes), USB and Bluetooth, door locks, windows, lights, mirrors….EVERYTHING.
If uncertain, have a mechanic or knowledgeable friend go with you. Take your time…leave no turns unstoned. |
Always pay a shop to perform a used vehicle pre-purchase inspection. As stated check the CarFax etc. Have the hybrid battery health checked. Maybe by a hybrid specialist.
At this point maintenance history is more important than the fact that 10 years ago it sat on the lot. It was probably used as a loaner or test drive vehicle. Do check the dealer service history at the Lexus Drivers Site. https://www.lexus.com/My-Lexus/servi...ervice-history |
I wouldn't buy a used car w/o having it checked by a person that I trusted. Not at a dealership... Too many horror stories after the sale and they don't want to know you.:nono:
