Default wheel stud replacement

I have a 2013 ES 350 (140,000 miles) and I have to replace the threaded stud on the passenger front.
1) I've heard different stories about whether the wheel bearing has to be removed as part of the procedure with quotes from Lexus as high as $400, now reduced to $250, and another at $550
2) And if the bearing has to be removed, should it be replaced?
3) But I just talked to a different Lexus Parts dept and they say the wheel bearing does not have to be removed.
4 Any thoughts? But my latest thinking is the wheel bearing remains undisturbed.

Thanks for any thoughts

With most Toyotas (and other cars) the wheel studs can be replaced without removing the hub assembly. There is usually a notch in the hub just for that purpose. Having said that I can not verify your Lexus is the same.
Here is one Yutube video

Just seconding what he said. look on the hub and you will see a "notch" where you will be able to hammer out the old wheel stud and it will pass though easily.

Thanks so much! The more I look, the clearer it becomes there is no need to take the car apart to install a new stud. I have an appt today to take the car in and now know the situation!
Thanks!
PS Great forum and great digital way to find answers among ourselves and solve problems!

Give serious thought whether you want to do business with whoever told they'd need to remove the wheel bearings: they are either not knowing their business or they're scamming you.

Hi Tootsall..
Yep.. I am surprised by the Bell Lexus dealership (Scottsdale, Arizona) in particular.. Initially $400, when I called to confirm my appt, they dropped it to $250.. I could tell something was wrong. I ended up with quotes between $75 and $550.. Pretty interesting and caused me to wonder about the bearing issue.
Thanks for the Club Lexus Forum and shared information..
