New member, question about exposed flywheel

I recently bought my first Lexus (2014 es350 white with tan interior) and while I’m super pleased, I’m finding a few little things that weren’t done quite right from previous mechanics.
on to the question - the flywheel is exposed at the very bottom. I’ve looked at parts diagrams and for the life of me can’t find a cover. I’m sure I’m just not looking at the right microfiche so if anyone can help I’d appreciate it. Surely it has a cover from the factory, right?!?

Would have helped if instead of the interior color you specified the engine.

Seriously? First message on the forum and this…

3.5 V6. Aren’t they all in that year? School me and tell me otherwise.

Hybrid is a 4-cylinder.

Can you post a picture?

I’ll crawl under it tomorrow eve but just imagine (for now, until I get pics) the flywheel being exposed at 6 o’clock, right where the engine mates to the transmission

There has to be some kind of inspection cover otherwise you can't remove the bolts on the flex plate/torque converter. Took a quick look in the parts diagram didn't see one.

Right, I was just surprised at the absence of a cover when I put it up on the jack for the first time. If anyone knows the p/n to the cover I’d appreciate it!

The OP said the car is ES 350, not ES300H, so the engine is known.

OP, definitely should not be seeing the flywheel.

You can see the underside on this video.

Welcome to the forum.

The question is, what is the part number for the inspection plate I can't find it not smart enough I guess.

john2101 Mar 5, 2024 08:39 PM

Maybe it's a part of the transmission and is not sold separately.

Looks that way. I pulled a 2GR out of a RAV4 but that is 4WD, I remember a plate with maybe 2 bolts but it's been awhile.

I’ve received good help since then, which I really appreciate. But a response like that 2 minutes after becoming a member made me wonder how things were going to go on the new to me forum.

I do not know why but Toyota/Lexus has the worst online parts catalog I have ever seen. Even after selecting a car if still shows all the irrelevant parts. Many of the parts are missing pictures or show incorrect picture or show a useless (and sometimes incorrect) tiny sketch.

I found 1136131060 (COVER, FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER, 2019+ ES350) or 1136128010 (COVER, FLYWHEEL HOUSING UNDER, 2014-2018 ES300h) but nothing for the 2014 ES350.

I took a look under my 2015 V6 Camry. Is this the cover you are looking for?

That does appear to be it. I found this pic on eBay last night (searched transmissions till I found one with the plate) and I think the plate is shown here.
