No leather seats anymore?
So, I'm thinking about replacing my '13 with a '22/'23 (I LIKE CPO), but none of the cars I find have leather seats.
My car is level 2 of three (i.e., not base, not UL), came w 10-way&perforated&heated/cooled leather seats, and NAV. Now all the cars I seem to be able to locate only have "leatherette" seats. Event those with 10-way&perforated, w NAV. Did Lexus drop real leather in anything but the UL package? ================================================== Current Hers: '13 Lexus ES350 Current Mine: '15 Jaguar XF (X250) Portfolio AWD |
Yes. All new models have fake leather with base trim.

If it helps, NuLuxe is very nice. We have a 2018 ES300h with "real" leather and my 2017 ES350 with NuLuxe, and I honestly prefer the seats in my vehicle over the ES300h.
They are holding up much better, with no cracks or creases, while the leather in the ES300h is starting to show some cracks and creases. They also don't require as much "maintenance" as real leather seats, so you don't have to condition them consistently or worry about dye transfer. It's soft and just as comfortable to me. It's not like the old days of vinyl seats that feel like complete bricks. All new "base" including premium package models other than Luxury and Ultra Luxury will have NuLuxe. The L and UL will have semi-aniline seats. |
nuluxe is probably better than standard leather, but semi-aniline is more conformable - softer and a bit more breathable.

Thanks, realize that leather come with the Luxury Package. Guess the cars I see listed did not include that option
