Default Coolant Flush and Brake bleed

Hi all,

My 17 ES350 just hits 39K and I would like to flush the coolant and bleed the brakes fluid. Both have never been done before and it is now 6 years old.

I know I will need ~10 quarts of Super Long Life coolant, but I don't know how much DOT3 fluid I need, anymore knows?

TIA.

1 qt of DOT4.

Your coolant is good until 2027.

Coolant good for 100,000 miles... Just had two cars brakes bled and flushed at trusted independent garage. Both less than $100.00... One, a Honda, dealer wanted $420.00... Bought the brake fluid at Walmart...

Thanks all for the input. My ES350 is 6 years old so I figure just get both coolant and brake fluid flush out.
My mechanic will charge $150 labor and I supplies 3 gallon of coolant and 1 quart of brake fluid.

Any thought if I should get the coolant flushed out or am I wasting money?

Lexus dealer here wants $290 for the coolant job and $190 for the brake fluid job, that's a little high for my taste.

TIA.

I'd skip the coolant change and just have your guy do the brake fluid... I paid just under $100.00 but for northern Cali i guess $150. isn't too bad... My brother in Redding is always complaining...
GOOD LUCK!

I would skip the coolant. You should replace it at 150000 miles or 10 years.

I grow up in the wine country. Redding is not bad in terms of cost of living.
Been living in the heart of Silicon Valley for the last 30 years......we grow money on trees here. : )

OK. I will just have him do the brake fluid. Thx. the ES only has 39K miles on her anyway.

Definitely replace the coolant. At 6 yrs old, it had plenty of contact with the metal in your cooling system, giving it plenty of time to oxidize and using up the anti-corrosion additives. Also it is contaminated with dirt/dust and rubber particles from contact with hoses and seals.

It's a cheap insurance to replace it. I did on my 2018 with 26 K miles.

I would recommend replacing the cap also.

The brake fluid does need to be replaced too. The entire system doesn't hold very much, probably half a quart, so one quart should be plenty to refresh the fluid.

Good luck!

appreciate the advice. I was thinking the same on the coolant. Yeah, $75 labor plus 3 gallons of coolant is cheap insurance for sure.
