Transmission Temperature Reading Help OBD2
 

What's up guys, LORD HAVE MERCY THANK GOODNESS I can read ATF temperature through the Carista app. Saved me a ton of money from buying another scan tool. Anyways, I went to go read the sensors and it shows up 3 different ATF temperature readings. They all change at the same time as if they are all 3 the same sensor, but I just wanted to maybe ask folks on the forum here just to double check if our generation ES doesn't have multiple ATF temp sensors for example... one sensor for the pan.... one sensor for the torque converter ... etc etc. As far as I'm concerned... it's only the pan temperature on our cars correct? I've attached an image of the 3 ATF sensors that put up.... and like I said all 3 of them change at the exact same time and show the same reading as if they are all the same sensor. That's likely a limitation/quirk with the scanner they are all feeding off the same sensor.

I use the scangauge II for mine and there is only 1 code to enter for the ES 350 trans temp. My wife's 4Runner has 2, which is for different sensors. I will say that the ES 350 sensor behaves a lot like the torque converter sensor on the 4Runner, as it fluctuates more with stop and go driving.

Okay so I'm guessing there's only one possible transmission fluid temperature. It appears our cars doesn't have two separate ones like your wife has for the torque converter. I was about to get a scan gauge until I found out my Carista dongle is compatible with other OBD2 apps that can read transmission fluid temperature. That works out great because that's $100 less I have to spend lol

There's only one temp sensor inside the transmission. All of these dongles have trouble to read AT temp.
