The variable valve timing solenoids are located at the front of the engine, typically near the front of the valve cover.

I think you will find the answer on these links. https://irate4x4.com/threads/toyota-...enoids.380661/

A better way to phrase your question is to use the name of the engine as it is used in many Toyota and Lexus Products. The 3.5 V6 is called the 2GR-FE.
Good Luck.

Thanks!!!! Great tip on how to ask questions!

Is this a VVT solenoid? This look like a sensor to me?
I use the diagram shown in this thread (also attached).

Should I be looking at Oil Control Valves (OC2 & OE2) for solenoids?

I think that is the VVT sensor with the filter. I have never taken out one of these and just know what I read.

Engine Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Solenoid (Left, Right) it is also named in the exploded drawing above as the intake (or exhaust) camshaft timing control valve either LH or RH. They are under the valve cover. Getting to the front ones is easy, the rear ones much more difficult. See the irate4x4 link in my post as it is the same engine.
