TPS replacement
Dear Lexus Mechanics,
I had a TPS die on my '13 ES. I went to NAPA and purchased one of their universal QWIK Sensors and took it to Discount Tires to replace it for $10. After they replaced it, they told me they could not program it. I asked NAPA for the shop that purchases them. They programmed it for nothing, but I was still not getting the pressures on the display. I took it back to Discount and he took his tool around to each TPS. I suppose to capture the serial number. Then he plugged into the ODBII port. He said it was done. Still nothing on the display. As I was driving home the pressures came up. I stopped at the plumbing supply first. When I started back to home the pressures were again blank but came back after about 15 to 20 seconds of driving.
Question, Is this normal operation? Since owning this ES for a little over one year, I have not immediately gone to the tire pressure. I had noticed that while driving the freeway at 80 (The posted speed limit in Utah outside the Wasatch Front.) the pressure display would be blank. I just have not thought of posting it on the forum.
I am thinking the 80 MPH blanking could be low batteries and the weak individual signals could not be captured. Thoughts anyone?
