Wheel Fitment Question
 

2010 Lexus ES 350

Hi,

I recently acquired a set of 20 Inch wheels from a 2021 Lexus RX 450HL. While I understand the rim + tire combo from the RX will not fit the ES, I want to know if the rim itself with the appropriate tire size (245 35 R20) will fit given the specification of the wheels.

As it stands, the car has a set of 19 Inch wheels from a 2020 Toyota Camry XLE.

The only part that concerns me is the offset. The 19 inch wheels sit quite far inside the fender, I do not particularly like the wheels and want to avoid use of spacers for a more 'flush' fit. With the Lexus rims, the wheel will sit 20 mm outwards. Based on my visual measurement, the wheels should fit barely inside the fenders. Obviously I want to avoid using wheel that will sit outside the fender and potentially rub/hit against wheel arches in addition to looking silly. I am also aware that 20 inch wheels with low profile tires may compromise the ride quality.

While I may be able to test fit the wheels since I already have them, I do not have the correct tire size yet and want to confirm trouble free fitment prior to ordering tires. I don't think I can even test fit the wheels with the SUV sized tires currently on the rims.

Stock offset is 45mm

You would need 15mm worth of spacer to get if away from the caliper. Maybe so much the fender ouwld get in the way since its a large rim

I believe the lower the offset, the more it sticks outwards. 30 mm vs 50 mm in this case, the 30 mm wheel will extend 20 mm outwards more than the 50 mm wheel. Based on that understanding, I won't need spacers but can potentially run into a problem where the wheels are sticking too far out (possibly out of the fender arches).

RIght. I think you will run into a problem although with low profile tires its maybe possible? It's tough.. those are SUV fit

Tires will definitely be changed out. It's a matter of how far out the wheels will sit. I believe the sweet spot is 35 mm offset. I have read posts and seen pictures of folks using MY2010 Lexus RX 350 wheels on their 5th gen ES 350. The offset on last gen RX 350 wheels is 35 mm. No documentation of ES with 30 mm offset wheels though.

I believe those are 18 inch wheels from a RX 350. The offset is 35 mm and they look flush, adding 5 mm to that...feel like it will stick out.

The 5mm or quarter inch more the wheel may stick out will not be noticed. More depends on the tires and how far they bulge out of the wheel. Different brands and models of tires will have different designs such that the tread and sidewalls will stick out more or less from the wheel. You would need 235/35R20 to keep the original diameter on 20 inch wheels.

I think that thin a sidewall is asking to wreck the ride and risk more risk of tire damage from potholes etc but it is your car.

I have 8-inch wide wheels with stock offset and 20 mm spacers on my RX and they stick out about 5mm past the fender and it looks fine. No rubbing.
You will not notice the protrusion after 5 minutes, and I think it looks great and the handling is much better.

Has anyone else tried RX350 wheels on their ES other than the one posted above? I think 8” wide ET30 should fit the wheel arches fine.
